Derek Chisora has also competed with something of a belly but put on excellent fights. Obviously George Foreman too but he is exceptional. There's an assumption from the outside that if you don't have a clear sixpack you are just carrying unnecessary weight, but I remember Ross Enamait saying once a lot of the best action he'd seen was fighters sparring before they had to begin their cut.

I suppose so. If I was a fighter, I would want a trainer who wanted me to perform at my best skill level and endurance without regard for weight or much of anything else. But, I'm neither a pro-fighter nor a trainer, so WTF do I know?
