nutritionfacts.org/video/four-nuts-once-a-month/I just got my blood work back and my cholesterol levels are about 20 points lower than last year. About a week before the test I ate four Brazil nuts. It is the only thing I can think of that I did differently (I might have emphasize plant-based omega 3's more too). So, unless you don't like Brazil nuts this might be an easy way to lower your levels (based on my experiment of one )

Cholesterol is in every cell of the body. It is essential for life. The body makes 70% of the cholesterol it needs, the rest comes from diet. Any excess is eliminated by the normal channels. Cholesterol doesn't cause heart issues any more than firemen cause fires or umbrellas cause rain. It shows up to make repairs when when needed. If people don't want heart issues, they need to eat clean and avoid doing the things that damage their vascular system, which cholesterol would then show up to repair. Testosterone is 100% cholesterol. The brain floats in myelin which is mostly cholesterol. 25% of the body's cholesterol is in the brain. Statin drugs are the number one selling drug. It's a scam. They lower cholesterol, dry up the brain and people get alzheimer's. Should I go on? The cholesterol BS is propaganda. The threshold continues to be set lower and lower which brings more drug customers for MD prescriptions. There is a very small percent of people who have specific health issues (like a couple percent of the population) that can be helped in a temporary way by using statins, but the researchers realized that they could sell more if they invented the cholesterol mystique. Big Pharma/Big Medicine is about making money, not improving people's health. If you search this forum for "cholesterol" you may find other threads where this has been discussed.
Please excuse me now, I'm poaching 3 whole eggs with runny yolks in a dish smeared with a T or two of rendered lard for my first meal today.

After the Trade Towers came down, and I learned the real truth, I began to question everything that the so called experts said, and I have benefited greatly, especially in the area of health.

Me: Reads Mr. P's posts on the extreme necessity of dietary cholesterol for good health. Ponders the fact that has not had any dietary cholesterol for around 35 years. Realizes that should be dead. Dies (but not before amending Will and giving Mr. P all of my cholesterol - "I want all of the cholesterol as I can get." - Mr. P)

Cholesterol is essential. I don't know about dietary cholesterol as an item separate from all bodily cholesterol, but it seems like a person would need 20% to 30% dietary cholesterol by simple subtraction ...... assuming that is the way it works. I'm not knowledgable enough to have an opinion on that. I'm curious though, how do you know that you've had no " dietary cholesterol for 35 years"? And .... thanks for remembering me in your will!

After I read those articles, I realized (or think I have) that the main message is to not be afraid of eating high dietary cholesterol, but also that, without any additional dietary cholesterol, the body will make 100% of the cholesterol needed from the food it receives. The percents I've seen hover around 20% to 30% dietary cholesterol supplying the balance, but I now think that they have approximated these values by taking an average of how much cholesterol the general population in the various studies consumed. They just observed the common amount of dietary cholesterol. Whatever it turned out to be didn't matter because the body made up the rest, or made it all, or made little to none if the diet was quite high in cholesterol. And, any excess is eliminated, so the whole cholesterol-lowering-avoiding-controlling issue is a non-issue for nearly everyone.

Vegetus, if You don't mind could You share what a day of eating for You looks like? I find the diet part of everyone interesting. I think one can learn from everyone's eating habits. I appreciate it if You share but I understand if You don't. Thanks either way.

It thought so. Cholesterol is essential, but I have learned something here. Like I mentioned in the previous post, apparently, our healthy bodies make all of the essential cholesterol we need. In the past, when I read that our body makes 70% to 80% of our cholesterol, I just assumed that we needed to eat the other 20% to 30% in our diet. I don't see any harm in eating additional dietary cholesterol, but what I learned in this thread is that dietary cholesterol in addition to what the body makes, is not necessary. Thanks.
