In the last month and a half, I have cought:
An stomach flu, which has me in bed for 2 full days, going back to training the third, not eating/digesting well untill the 6th or 7th day.
A cold last weekend, whose signs I stupidly ignored for various days until falling. I was not getting enough sleep and training at high intensity for many days (from 1st april to 12th april I trained 11 days, 2 of them medium intensity, the rest full on), so it is my fault.
What do you guys do when ill to speed up recovery? I have read about vitamin c, glutamine and the likes, but I am not too sure about it.

Vitamin C works well in most cases, cold showers have helped me along with drinking juices, fasting if needed and do workouts where intensity isn't on the table like low level qi gong, deep breathing exercises and a couple of other things. I rarely ever get sick and when I do, I take care of it and rest up as much as needed. Depending on a person's immune system, some can recover fast, others it takes a bit of time. One way or another you'll find a way to get better and get back. Hope you feel better bro and get back to your training soon.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your advice and links. Sleep more, vitamin c/vitamin complex, lots of water seems to be the common denominator.

I use vitamin C, echinacea, herbal tea, ginger, garlic, raw honey, the citrus fruits, apple cider vinegar w/ mother (Bragg's), and, more recently, elderberry syrup. Plenty of liquids. Eating an apple with an equal volume of pineapple (if canned, with the juice, NOT with syrup) will open up respiration like you wouldn't believe until you try it. The effect lasts a few hours. Essential oils can be helpful, like lemon oil, eucalyptus oil or orange oil. Vitamin D/sunshine is good. Putting a towel over my head and having it over steam feels good or just breathing a hot cuppa. I've also dressed really warm, i.e. in insulated coveralls, and gone walking until I sweat like a pig. Hot mineral salt bath soak, which I love to do at least once per week, sick or not. If a person isn't taking it already, a liquid mineral supplement is essential every day, but especially when ill.

Vitamin C to prevent getting ill in the first place is what I would recommend
