These appear to be just straight forward tallys of calories required to do the work. There's more to it than that. Walking burns more fat than glucose and running burns mainly glucose for fuel. If you want to burn fat calories, walk.

Of course, calorie calculations are iffy - e.g. 100 calories of almonds are not digested as well as a 100 calories of almonds butter .

If you eat a BK Whopper within the 2500 calories a day for an adult male, then there should be no need to do anything extra.

A calorie is a measurement of heat released by the fuel (food or, in the case of a BK Whopper, the simulation of food) when it burns, NOT a measurement of nutrition. With all of the quickly available glucose in that burger, you'll be quite hungry soon again and in much shorter time compared to the same calories of nutrient dense food. Eating crap like that is the addictive reason that people can't stop their overeating while at the same time, their body is starved of nutrition.
