I tried Bruce's approach to doing chin ups today...leaned back a bit and found this angle felt like it worked (or engaged?) more back muscles vs. using primarily biceps. Like it!
If you haven't given this a shot, would recommend giving the option a try.

Funny you should mention this. For those who aren't familiar with my assist pullups, I sit on the floor with my legs straddled and then let my legs go limp as I pull my self up. I'm guessing I'm using about 50% of my bodyweight. In the words of the indomitable Bruv, this would be good even if someone can do a fair few pullups. I would prefer doing proper pullups as I used to, but those hurt my elbows every freaking time.

What does "straddled" mean? Legs wide apart? It's hard to see what your legs are doing in the pic. I can only make out one foot, which appears to be the right one, straight out in front of your torso.

Here's another good substitute for pullups. I do these a couple of times a week as pyramids 10-20-30-20-10. Added benefit of cleaning the kitchen floor.

I mean, I wouldn't want someone doing these incorrectly........

In the pic it looks like your feet are about shoulder width apart. Feet positioning in exercises is often desribed as "wide" "shoulder width apart", "hip width apart" "feet together". Maybe just do whatever suits yourself?

We're back into semantics again.......yes, feet anywhere you want them to be.

I'm especially fond of Static-Dynamic Semantics. They are more effective than Maximum Amplitude ROM Semantics.

Good point Billfish! A Sierra Suspension Trainer could easily be used to convert this to a dynamic isometric or even a dynamic long hold isometric type movement.
