I figured someone on here would like this. Looks like it will open up the hips, like a stretch. I do something similar in my warm up with a lite KB.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see him actually perform squats.

Just maintaining the bottom position of a squat for time is a healthful practice

Just maintaining the bottom position of a squat for time is a healthful practice It's also a universally natural and common human posture to maintain for long periods.

I like to hold a squat, sitting on my calves. During that, I'll lean forward, similar to what this guy does @ 2:00, but I just put my hands on the surface and rock gently forward, which raises my heels. Gives a calf stretch too. Also, while squatted, I raise my arms overhead in a "Y" and try to bring them back until my hands are directly above my feet, and then hold/pulse/surge. Can't do it, but making the effort has a similar upper back-tensing effect as the same arm movement I mentioned in the " Expander Overhead Press techniques" thread.

I thought this thread was titled "SQUAT ROUTINE"! So where are the squats?

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see him actually perform squats. He could have named it the "Ido Stand Routine" if he had been standing to do it.

I require holding onto something to maintain the low squat position for a decent amount of time . Note a Sissy Squats Bench would eliminate the need to hold onto something ; the bench locks in your lower legs .
