Last night for dinner I nuked a couple of great big Russet potatoes until they were nice and soft, and then I split them open and slathered them with butter and topped them with liberal amounts of shredded cheese, broccoli, and bacon bits. Delicious!

Potatoes have one of the highest satiety indexes of any food. They fill you up. Can get in trouble calorie wise if you really slather on high fat toppings.
Clint Eastwood used to keep small boiled ones in fridge and eat one or two plain when he got hungry during the day.

Delicious! I love nuked russets. Also I like to nuke sweet potatoes and Japanese yams. They're great with nothing on them.

The only way I eat potatoes is in a stew. Just don't like the taste of white potatoes. I could eat sweet potatoes and yams everyday.

............. Clint Eastwood used to keep small boiled ones in fridge and eat one or two plain when he got hungry during the day. Me too. Boiled potatoes, small to medium typically, the harder flesh variety of yellow or red, smooth skin. I eat one or two with sea salt. That's it, cold or warmed with sea salt. It's few calories, but kills hunger due to the potato (alone) being the most satiating food by about 33% above everything else.

I think it's hard to beat a baked potato with cheese and beans. Great for a quick winter lunch.
