I haven't been on facebook for a year. I registered with a brand new account on facebook. New email adress and everything. They couldn't possibly known anything about me. That's what I thought until I saw "you could know this person" and it was persons I really know in real life. I was like WTF how could they possibly know this? The answer is simple, facebook fused with whatsapp a few years ago. Whatsapp is a phone messenger, obviously it works with your mobile number and phone contacts. Facebook needs your mobile number to register. So these motherfuckers shared that information between each other and only with my mobile number that I used for the registering process they knew who I know in real life. Unreal. Imagine how bad it will be in 10 years. I bet they know much much more than that too.

We pay for the convenience with our privacy. Isn't that the f'ing truth. If 10 years ago someone had said, "go to a website and tell all about your day to day activities and enumerate your friends and acquaintances for nothing", we'd have promptly told them to fuck off. But they had the sense to make it like a community and sold you on the idea that it was the best most effective way to keep up with your friends.

Facebook is a great resource for the intelligence agencies and commercial interests. Even when you don't want it to be. I got off it almost as soon as my daughter put me on without my permission. Too many questions about some of my friends, from other friends.
And every time I checked back to see if I was off their books, I was back in again. I waited for a week, then got my daughter to check for me. I was finally off (I think).
I'm hoping it will never come when everyone has a microchip embedded in their cranium and has to log in every day to the police, to be marked "present and correct".
