Like You guys said, we're all not built the same. Also there are different situations and injuries that can happen with the shoulders. The shoulder is the most movable joint in the body. When I had an operation on my shoulder separation in 2007 the therapist first worked on mobility and flexibility. Then it was strength training with cables and light dumbbells in different planes of motion. I was back to work in a month. I would never had been able to hang or stretch in the situation.
Now I prefer what I believe Fred, Bruce and Stormshadow do. I do hang and press. But I also do front, side and either bent laterals or a rear delt row as Jeff just for shoulder health. Dr. Kirsh recommended doing 20-50 reps with light weight for these for shoulder health. Honestly, These can be done with DBs, cables, self-resistance, isometric, etc... Not everyone has the same situation. Age, work and other factors play a part in what works for someone. I've found for myself, to much mobility causes less stability. Without stability You have no strength.

I do my Thera Band external and internal rotator cuff exercises 4 days a week, as well as the scarecrow exercise with my shoulder horn as well as shoulder rotations , it takes me 15 to 20 minutes of warming up my shoulders before I workout, but it’s worth it.

I also do the dead hang that Dr. Kirsch suggested in his book, very helpful also.

My shoulder impingment is now almost completly non existent thanks to a lot of chinning and a focus on retraction/depression of the shoulder blades. Sepcial isolation rotator work did nothing for me.

I realized I had written the order of sequence of the words "isometrics", "holds" and "stretching" incorrectly in the first sentence in my last post on this thread. So, I corrected it to read: "I'm referring to isometrics and holds as being under the umbrella of stretching."
