Didn't feel like doing a lot this evening but needed to do something. I decided to just crawl. I ended up crawling for 25 minutes nonstop in all different directions and forms. Thats by the far the longest I have stayed on my hands and feet without standing up or some other way of resting. I was dripping with sweat by the time it was done and was starting to gasp for air pretty good. I'll shoot for 30 minutes straight soon and adding some plank and bridge holds to finish it off. Great exercise.

Great exercise. Jr., If You don't mind me asking, how old are You? The reason I'm asking is I know You have done some hard work being a Marine and seeing Your video. How does crawling that long feel on Your elbows? Sounds like a fun little workout.

The only thing that I notice are my wrists being a little stiff at first, but they soon loosen up and feel great by the end.

I mostly do non-stop exercise but several minutes nonstop crawling would do me in . I infrequently do a crawl move across a couple rooms, but I agree with you. It would have the same effect on my shoulders as full ROM pushups for reps did. Plus, other injuries prevent me from doing much of that without pain. IMO, Not a beneficial exercise, habitually and long term, as we saw in the bit about the crawling soldiers. I do some spot floor cleaning some days by squatting and leaning forward on alternating hands as I mop the spot or whatever chore requires a 'down-on-all-fours' position. That's enough for me.

I have sometimes thrown a bear crawl in a little circuit. But that's about it. I just wonder how doing long workouts crawling would affect Your wrist, elbows, and maybe shoulders. I'm sure one could work up a sweat.

I'm sure one could work up a sweat. Back when I was doing them on a regular basis, i would bear crawl across my yard and mix in other crawls.....no problems with wrists, elbows and shoulders. One helluva workout !

When I started I couldn't make it 10 minutes. One of the best exercises I've found thus far.

Mikey
Old time cossack infantrymen trained to the point where they could crawl for over a mile at one go without undue fatigue when needed.
From my own experience of hebertisme and of military service, I strongly doubt that a few minutes of varied crawling would be bad for joint health,

From my own experience of hebertisme and of military service, I strongly doubt that a few minutes of varied crawling would be bad for joint health, I've found its about one of the easiest things on my joints. Just like anything, build in to it gradually, and if anything hurts beyond reason, don't do it. Just to note, I don't crawl fast, I crawl with concentration on movement and making sure I have control at all times.

Thanks Hector & jrMP. I will reconsider due to ....
this:
and this: The idea of crawling continuously for 25 minutes right out of the gate scares me at this time. I quit doing most full ROM exercises with repetitions.
grunt's comment made sense to me:
... since, as I mentioned in my post, I am working through some non-exercise related injuries and due my avoidance of pushup reps.
