When I do the Stuart McGill Big 3 I always add in loaded carries. It could be waiter carries, rack or suitcase carries. Sometimes I like doing the Cook drill Kettlebell carries. I know some guys here like carries. This article is KB based but I thought some might be interested. www.strongfirst.com/consider-adding-kettlebell-carries-training/

To avoid the grip limit , I just carry a single weight by alternating arms as needed to continue without rest .

Most of the time I do the same thing Grunt. All my carries are done with a single weight. A couple of other carries that You may like is holding the weight like a goblet squat while walking or holding it straight out chest height.

It has been my experience that two hands and single hand carries complete each others and neither should be neglected.
I just alternate them from session to session, works for me.

I like the KB carries and regular farmers bars too. But the ass buster for me is my iron mind bag filled with water bladders carried in a bearhug or Zercher style. Its brutal.

Hector, I think You're probably right about the two hand and single hand carries. When I'm exercising I prefer the single hand carries because it feels better for my back. I do a good amount of double carries at both my jobs. Jr.meatplow, writing Your username just isn't right, that does sound brutal, Nice!!!

Once my yard ever dries up Dad and I are going to do a Bryce Lance "Have it All" farmers walk workout from hell. 100lbs in each hand for 75 yards with bodyweight squats and pushups at the end of each carry.

Nice! I'm a big advocate of carries and up until my ankle injury they were probably the main form of exercise I did. Other people who do them tend to throw them in at the end of a routine now and then, that to me is like somebody doing one set of squats once a week and expecting good results.
If you are doing lighter carries like in the SF article, consider adding in some lateral movement. Steps which are totally sideways are very awkward under load, but stepping out at a slight angle or in a fighter's stance is an interesting option.

Here is an example of a KB loaded carry workout.
Jr. the workout sounds pretty brutal! I see what You're saying Dave. I do KB carries pretty much 5 days a week, mostly at the end of my training session and in conjunction with the Stuart McGill Big 3 some days. Between this and some other things I do my back feels great. At my jobs, I do single and double carries of different styles.
