So I just got my Sierra Hook Expander..
and I'm very happy with it!
It is super easy to add cables in between sets. A major disadvantage of expanders since they were invented has been fixed here.
Another positive aspect is the length of the cables which is just perfect for my longass orangutan arms. Other expanders I used before were too narrow, I was in a biomechanical weak start position where I couldn't apply much power. Something which is NOT the case with The Hook.
I like how strong/light the black/white cables are. Bruce chose the optimal resistance for those. Optimal to make progress step for step.
Altogether a very good expander and most likely the best one out there.

From looking at photos of the hook, you might imagine that a lot of length is wasted thanks to the length of the hook part itself. That is not the case, and everyone should BUY the HOOK.

A couple years ago Bruce Tackett came up with a slight improvement on the hook handle design. Did he market it as the Hook Pro? No, he put an offer out there for ALL owners of the The HOOK to replace their old handles with the news ones. Sierra Exercise Equipment is the BEST FITNESS COMPANY IN THE WORLD.

I'm sure much more people would buy it if they were aware of it. It look me several days of reading in forums to find out about The Hook. The Hook is levels above any other expander. It surprises me that no big investor has approached Bruce to mass produce The Hook. It's the kind of training tool that should be marketed on shopping channels so people actually get value for money and a tool that actually allows them to get stronger opposed to the useless stuff they usually sell there.

I'll be buying the Hook once I get out of the poor house due to this government shutdown. I'm going to get the iso strap too.

I positively slather with anticipation! Are you one of the government workers not getting paid? yes, sir. Lowly prison worker. I also can't wait to get the Hook system, a Power Twister, and a Bullworker. But, I'm going to have to see how this pans out over the next 3 weeks. My old man who is going to be 64 soon also trains with me and he and I have moved away from the heavy barbell stuff. Just too many injuries and aches and pains that goes along with pushing into heavy PR range stuff. I'm more than strong enough for anything I do on a daily basis. I want to be relatively pain free with loads of strength in odd angles for BJJ and Judo. Isometrics and bands provide what I'm looking for. Been working with the iso-bow which I bought before the shutdown and I'm really liking what I feel. Dad and I were talking about the iso's and bands the other night after we finished training and I told him about a lot of negative comments about them not being useful and not producing results. I told him that the majority of the time when you read these comments that they always judge the effectiveness against barbell movements and most people expect things to work instantly. When you grab ahold of a seasoned grappler that is statically strong in all positions, you really see how effective they truly are. Along with that, isometrics provide their own strange type of conditioning that I don't really know what it is, aerobic or anaerobic. Low intensity aerobics nor, things like burpees provide the same conditioning effect that iso's do.

Yeah, people think that because bands aren't heavy and expensive, they can't be as effective as weights for building size and strength. That's not true. Nothing burns your muscles like bands. The exponential increase in resistance as you pull really burns. Sort of the same concept behind Nautilus.
Anyway, I'm sorry that you and others like you have gotten the shaft. If I'm not mistaken, the shutdown is coming to an end. I sure hope so.
I have, on several occasions, sold The Hook to people with no money down and set them up on a payment plan of their own choosing - any amount on any time schedule they want. If you're interested, PM me.

And they are hand made to exacting high quality standards. No cheap offshored junk. And you help the owner of my favorite internet forum. I read many but only post here.
