jimwendler.com/blogs/jimwendler-com/effort-vs-knowledge"Training is 85-90% effort and consistency and 10-15% programming/knowledge." How is this even possible? Because 100% of the time action beats sitting around with a thumb up your ass. Or sitting on the computer debating someone. Or doing anything other than getting shit done. I don't care how much you want to spin this, action always beats DOING NOTHING.

Success is about commitment, consistency, and effort, and realizing there is no magic bullet or “special” program “ that will give you an edge.

Many roads can take you to "fitness Rome" so pick one and get going .

Exactly! "All roads lead to Rome, but some routes are shorter than others."

^^^^^ that’s the thing, Bob. Everyone thinks THEIR road is the best.
Ultimately, any road you choose, ( within reason), will yield good results if you’re committed and consistent.

I think the point is that you can work super hard but soon start to make little to no progress if you don't have the knowledge how to train properly.
So working out with no knowledge will see you progress for a short time, but then you need to know how to structure things to help you keep the progress coming.

All good points. Like he said we're all really beginners, no one is an expert. Like MBS says there is no magic pill. As MBS said everyone thinks their way is the best. But everyone has different situations. I know none of us are Athletes but this sentence sums it up for me: "And if I never learn another thing about training but get better at consistency, effort, and attitude, I would be an INFINITELY BETTER ATHLETE." It's better than debating with someone that Your way is better. Like he said," Action is always better than nothing". One thing I try not to do is make fun of what someone is doing, whether I agree or not at least they are doing something.

So, I read the article. So, I hate it when people start out a brand new thought, conversation or article with "So". So, it's as if there was something preceding what they are bringing for the first time. So, it sounds, so, stupid.
So, my way may be best for me, but I don't really know. I'm hoping to find an 80/20 percent savvy exercise guru with books and/or programs to sell to sort it out for me one day.
So, sure, everyone thinks their way is best (I mean - whatever is best for them). I think that's good. If they don't believe in or enjoy what they're doing, perhaps they need to find something else to do. It's only natural to want to share something good that you found with friends.
So, I just want to be more flexible, be more durable, knock more women off their ellipticals as I stroll by, and find new, offensive, ways to challenge people's thinking. I also enjoy having my own thinking challenged. That's how I grow and learn. Say whatever you like. I trust you to have my best interest at heart and share something you think is truly helpful.
So, if you're too sensitive to have someone make fun of you or what you're doing, check with your doctor before joining a forum. It may no be the right thing for you.
So, yeah, do something and learn what you like to do as you go. It's a self-correcting journey as you follow good feelings. Don't bother with goals and you will never be disappointed.
So, remember that I may be full of shit and have nothing better to do today than to exercise, eat, sleep and be silly on the forums.

I worked out once what the actual progress would have been if you followed 5/3/1 to the letter and then never read anything by Jim Wendler again.
