I found this today health.howstuffworks.com/wellness/diet-fitness/exercise/could-pass-kids-middle-school-fitness-test.htmI don't know if they do fitness tests on school children here in the UK. When I was at school in Australia, in the 1960s & 70s, they didn't test fitness, but we did have compulsory PE lessons every week. Most of these I hated doing. I was sure the PE teacher had it in for me, always putting me on the skins team when playing football in the middle of winter. Bear in mind that in South Australia, it's cold when it is 8C and everyone is well wrapped up. It's 3C today here in Blighty. I liked the PE trips, when we used to go swimming, roller skating or squash. I was pretty lousy at sport, except for roller skating, which I used to do a lot when I was a lad. In hindsight, PE was a good thing.
