I had a friend who was a world class power lifter. There were times when little beads of blood would appear on his forehead during training with heavy squats. Bottom line, he died in his mid 50's from a massive heart attack, just after coming back from a competition. But that's not because of the weights, but because he overdid it and went too far. Excess is always dangerous. If you fucking bleed while training and don't change course then you deserve whatever nasty consequences you get. Just apply common sense. Some times on a forum, like in regular conversation, we have a tendency to read something quickly, and decide too quickly that the person was saying something that they were not actually saying. Just because I was talking about a friend who died, likely because of his extreme attitude towards weight lifting, doesn't mean that I am against weights....I am 71 and still use weights, and yes, I did enter powerlifting contests even into my 40's.
I was talking about an obsession with something that needs to be handled with care.

Then I probably misunderstood what you said. Maybe I read it too fast. Also, English is not my first language. Nor the second actually. Sorry.

You did misunderstand me, but it was my fault and not yours! When I made the post I hadn't even read the attachment about weight training being better for the heart than running....SHAME ON ME I agree with it completely, but my post suggested that it was much more dangerous than anything.
I should have posted this at a time when the discussion was about "training dangerously " , or something like that.
I learned a little lesson there about speaking up on something before having all the facts.
Sorry josepz , but you are wrong about your English...you write better than many people whose first language is English.
I hope our Most exaulted, excellency, Bruce Tackett will forgive me as well, for snapping back at him
