Seeker........
Do you do the same exercises daily or do you do a split routine?

I stick to daily schedule if I can. However, sometimes, I switch from free hand co-contraction exercises to exercises with a stick. Also, I sometimes switch from repeated sets to circuits. It seems my body tells me to do it.

How intense are your workouts? It sounds as though you don't adhere to a 48 hour recovery?

I do not do the same exercises every day except for walking and some isometrics that I do in my chair at night watching some TV. I used to do whole body three times a week (my first 5 years of training starting at about 10 years old, then went to 4 day split where all body parts are worked twice per week. I changed the split up in different ways like upper body, lower body, push pull and body part specialization (for the next 25 years and with almost no cardio except stationary bike and sports). Now I do two full body workouts per week, and two sets each per exercise and walking or biking two to three times per week. The first set is a getting warmed up set and seeing how the movement and weight feels. The following set is the main effort set where I stop when it hurts a lot. I like to do at least 20 exercises per workout. Sometimes I will do 25. I always liked an old article that John Grimek wrote about a potpourri routine where he did lots of different exercises. Not real failure like I did when I was a kid with a training part and endless forced rep sets. Like you, I think recuperation is very important. On my days off from lifting I like to use strands, some calisthenics and isos and lots of stretches.

How intense are your workouts? It sounds as though you don't adhere to a 48 hour recovery? It is difficult for me to estimate the intensity. I usually perform each set (10-20 reps) up to feeling the pain in my working muscles plus 2 or 3 reps. I perform 3 sets for each muscle group (arms, chest, abs, back, legs, neck). The rest period between sets is 30-60 sec. Total time of daily training is 45-55 min.

I do not have the rigid schedule and workout. In general, I change exercises after 3-6 weeks. For example, after performance of free-hand co-contraction exercises for 3-6 weeks, I feel that I need to switch to a stick and vise versa. Also, as I have written, I can perform my co-contraction or stick exercises as repeated sets for 3-6 weeks and then switch to the same exercises as circuits. I perform my workout daily!

I perform my workout daily! Like pulling teeth, I swear! This reminds me. When my son was little and there were those times I'd try to get through to him, I'd finally say, "I swear! It's like trying to talk to a wall!" Years later, as an adult, he told me, "I always wanted to say, The wall doesn't care, either."

Bruce, I really try to make my exercises every day. I feel much better after my workout, probably, because of changing my hormonal background after training.
