There are many of us who remember the legendary Dr. Crunch, a chiropractor from Florida, who wowed the fitness world with his long-hold isometric chinup.
Now I don't remember whether it was a one minute hold or a two minute hold. Also, I recall him coming back and saying, Forget the iso hold, I've got something even better. But I can't, for the life of me, remember what that other thing was.
I had originally decided to post a thread asking if anyone remembers, but then I thought, "Hey! Why not go directly to the source?"
So, I've sent an email asking the esteemed doctor to please make an appearance on this forum, or to at least answer the above questions in an email to me.
We shall see.

I hope so...I captured as many of his posts as I could on Portalguy's & Dave W's boards, but, they've disappeared over the years or have been hard to pull up since Tapdapatalk came along.

Yeah, I hope so too. Our last correspondence was five years ago, so I hope the email address is still valid. My email to him didn't come back as undeliverable, so that's something. We shall see.

I also recall that he expanded and/or amended his original protocol. Perhaps the addition was an timed isometric push . Meanwhile, I'm content during a variety of isometrics without the amazing Dr Crunch results .

I think his other exercise was a side bend while holding a dumbell overhead?

I think his other exercise was a side bend while holding a dumbell overhead? That sounds right...I think we'd originally thought it was like a KB windmill until he provided a more detailed description?

Bruce, thanks for contacting Dr Crunch and getting clarification on the duration of his iso pulls . Please ask him about any additional protocols like the sidebend mentioned in this thread .

So, if I understand correctly, Dr Crunch only does two exercises - sidebands w/ weight and pullup holds? I wonder why he does sideband w/ weight and not DB C&P?

I don't think I want to pester him. I gave him an open invitation to this forum, and if he wants to accept it, he'll do so.
A bit anti-climatic, isn't it?

His posts, as I recall, were always "here's the information, take it or leave it". Unlike other self-proclaimed gurus who open and close each post telling you how great they are and proclaiming the end of the world is coming next week.

I appreciated Dr Crunch's pithy, no nonsense posts but it's too bad oldtimers disease has prevented me from fully remembering them.
