I was wondering where you were. Sciatica is horrible. I know you are not looking for sympathy but I know what sciatica can be like. I used to get it. Not as bad as your latest bout though. That sounds excruciating, Ben m8.

I was going to suggest DDP Yoga but see that you've already started on it, good idea.
Many years ago while still in my twenties to approximately mid thirties I also suffered with debilitating back pain. Multiple times a year I'd be out of commission for weeks at a clip, never knowing just when or what might trigger it. Fast forward to now at age 60 and my back hasn't given me any trouble whatsoever for years, knock on wood.
The key for my rehabilitation was purchasing an Inversion table and a Glute / Ham Raise bench, and then using them progressively & religiously. I also got into the habit of briefly stretching my back a few times a day. Good luck to you...

Thank you all. Yeah, I'm at 90-95%. No pain or crazy discomfort but I'm not risking going crazy yet. The DDP YOGA workouts are going great and they're keeping my spine strong and my legs worked to where to it just felt like a punch to the hip instead of a crowbar or a baseball bat.
I did the Diamond Cutter Workout yesterday which lasts roughly an hour. Modified a thing or two but made through it without quiting. The other day I tried some Dopa Training and just did 5 rounds instead of my normal ten, didn't time it and just did what I could on technique and not speed or great intensity. Being smart about what I do and being more methodical and deliberate.
So yeah I'm doing a hell of a lot and just inches from being at my best again and getting back to what I love. Sticking to mainly DDP YOGA daily for now ranging from easy to intermediate most days and doing an advanced workout once every 3-4 days. Other workouts may be the Dopa Band and Isometrics. An idea of mine is to be able to do high rep step ups again within a week or two and picking up Sandbells again around the same time.

Hi Ben,
Sciatica is a total swine. I had it in my thirties and twenty years later Iām still careful about it. Keep up with the chiropractor is all I can say from experience.
It is humbling but you will get through it š
Maybe now is the time to do some grip work while you let your sciatic nerve recover?
Hang in there young man š

Glad to see your getting back to normal. Never be ashamed of an injury as it's not a plea for sympathy to discuss such things. Injuries happen to all of us at some point. Btw, you look great at 237ish.

Practically within inches of being at my best. Today I did a 30 min DDP YOGA workout and threw in some isometrics immediately afterwards. My flexibility is back as I sunk in some stretches like it was nothing and being mindful of what I can do right now. Taking it one day at a time and not pushing it too hard on most things. Yeah the weight loss may have its perks but I def need a tan . Should be warming up here pretty soon out here in Idaho. Still taking some supplements but also stopped taking some since I'm practically almost healed.

Wow Benny! That sounds absolutely horrible. I had very mild sciatica a few times, and that was bad enough. But my daughter had it really badly, I think hers was about as bad as yours.
My very best wishes and thoughts are with you. I hope you can make a complete recovery. Keep us posted.

Magz gave you great advice. I do a form of what he does. Inversion (you can use an ab board or long plank of wood if you don't have inversion table) and I use hyperextension bench. He has the Cadillac with his GHR which I do think is better
Also two iso exercises I like. Lying in bed flat and push both heels and your upper back down like you are trying to make an inverted C with your body. Hold for thirty or more seconds
Lying on back with knees up and heels of feet pressed against your butt put yoga strap around knees and do iso deadlift. Same thirty seconds at least. Can move heels away to do at different parts of the iso deadlift. These two exercises really strengthen back without flexing reps on the disks Stretching is also a necessity. You can also hang from bar and twist lower body back and forth
