I found a monk fast done every 3rd day in conjuction with IIFYM eaten for 2 days tapering ur calories off as the day progresses & eating ur fiber 1st then protein then starches as ur meal order does a body good.
Ingesting 1200mg of N-acetylcysteine on an empty stomach 30 minutes prior to taking gelatin with vitamin C as ur 1st meal makes a HUGE contribution towards body composition.

I like to keep things simple. Especially after my car injuries. Necessity being the mother of invention: I've blazed my own trails. Don't knock it until you've tried it.

Under eating maintenance calories by reducing gross calories from carbs while increasing gross calories from protein induces ketosis as long as physical activity stays the same since the calories required to digest protein are much higher than for carbs or fat.
So, he's right about the macro adjustment, but wrong in thinking that he does not create a condition of ketosis by doing that.
