I heard on the radio that acid attacks are increasing in Europe and and other countries. I previously heard there were a lot of knife attacks as well. How true is this and what is best way to deal with the unprovoked attacks? I know being physically fit is a good start along with trying to be aware of your environment but reflexes start to slow down as one ages.

It's multiculturalism at its finest. Just thank them for coming to your country and making it better.

UK news is dominated at the moment by such an attack. The perpetrator came to the UK as an asylum seeker and is now on the run.

Very horrific thing here. The only thing to advise for the old age folks with less strength, slower reflexes, and more fragile is to work on your trigger finger and you know the rest.

Being aware of your environment is VERY important. Second thing is having a plan ahead of time to how you are going to try and deal with a situation. This runs the gamut of simple avoidance to deploying whatever weapon you have or can get to.

Where are they getting the acid? In the US, they are locking up a lot of supplies to include baby formula and cold medicines which could be made into meth.

The papers are trying to say it's all a plan to impose stricter immigration like we needed any more excuses.

The story posted indicated that the attacker and victim knew each other, I wonder what percentage of these attacks are aimed at total strangers and what are done by nutcases you know?

From what I understand the acid attacks are usually done by men on women that they know. Mostly Indian and Pakistani men doing it.
Acid is easy to buy. There are various acids that anybody can buy from the hardware store. I've got a litre bottle of hydrochloric acid in the garage that cost me about AUD$13.
The stabbings are often young guys fighting other young guys and not random attacks on total strangers.

I guess it’s like Deuce Gunner said, keep your wits about you and keep yours eyes open.
I think you’re right Fred, the incidents I’ve read about are between people who know each other at least to some degree. It’s a very very personal attack, trying to disfigure someone. I hope they lock that scumbag up and lose the key.
One strategy that came up for civilian defence methods after the London Bridge attack; go to “hooligan mode”. These attackers need to get close enough to their target to make their assault but pelting them with bricks, cans, bottles, chairs, scaffolding poles, anything with clout will stop their plan and mess them up.

Yeah there was an incident by me of a Pakistani man attacking his ex-wife with acid and ended up throwing a bottle of it over her and their child in the pram. I also have some hydrochloric acid I use for cleaning the patio, bought it on amazon . The stabbings are often between rivals of areas/gangs etc but it is happening randomly as well, it's just people are learning to avoid certain areas and migrating to nicer towns/cities at least here in the UK. it's an old saying but I think it's relevant, "Third world people bring third world problems", I don't care what people think of that mindset I'd stand by that comment, education is key but unfortunately when the people come here they are past the age of learning and still have a war torn or extreme poverty mindset, Native Europeans are hardly angels but follow a set of morals loosely the majority of time.

Notice what this gentleman states after he critiques his own encounter. He states he saw the subject creating a disturbance at the gas station and could have simply driven to another gas station. Lucky for him, everything turned out ok. Oh, and yes, I do have to look into those non-metallic knucks.

I have some martial arts secrets used on the ancient streets of britain, a budget friendly version of these... Motorbike gloves with carbon fibre knuckles are lethal, my all time favorite is holding a clipper lighter in your hand and squeezing it as hard as you can, your fist will literally become a rock, you might break it but guaranteed to smash a jaw to pieces if all else fails use your head like a raging scotsman just close your eyes, bend your knees and drive that nogging in like you are trying to jump through the enemy.
