"Smoking men had significantly higher levels of total and free testosterone compared with men who never smoked" "Smoking men had 15% higher total and 13% higher free testosterone levels compared with men who never smoked. Thus, smoking seems to be an important confounding factor when evaluating testosterone levels"" pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17163954/Whilst I know smoking is really awful for your health and just a stupid habit, maybe smoking being associated with manliness in the past isn't just made up.

The act of smoking looks ridiculous. You are walking around with something that is on fire sticking out of your face.

I remember Ben Greenfield experimenting with tobacco to raise testosterone, but I don't remember if he smoked it or not, I don't think he did.

Like a lot of younger people, I had some time in the trenches smoking in junior high (middle school.). We’d smoke walking to and from school. I quit smoking cigarettes early in high school.
We also did cigars and pipes. Never could get into cigars.
I remember we’d go to a restaurant that had cigarette vending machines and buy them there. Seems like I recall them costing 45 cents a pack. Was standing in line the other day st a convenience store and the person in front of me bought six packs of cigarettes. They were $8.28 a pack!
These younger people vaping nowadays are nuts. They’re growing popcorn lungs. I work too dang hard with my cardiovascular-respiratory conditioning to do anything harmful besides breathing air pollution.
Sadly, my Dad was a lifelong smoker and there’s no doubt in my mind it shortened his life.

..btw, 17 years as a heavy Marlboro smoker with lots of weed before the cigarettes. Gave all smoking up for good on Monday, June 28th 2004 at 7:15 am after waking up a little while earlier and smoking 3 in a row. Quitting was hard, but I'd done it at least a hundred times before, and this time it just stuck for some reason .

One of the guys I worked with years ago was a smoker. One day without trying to be funny he said "Giving up smoking is easy. I've done it three times". He really meant it.

One of the guys I worked with years ago was a smoker. One day without trying to be funny he said "Giving up smoking is easy. I've done it three times". He really meant it. Years ago I knew a chiropractor from my Martial Arts classes, and when he saw me go out for a smoke after a sparring session he told me about some electric ear stimulation thing he does that had a good record of helping people quit smoking.... So I went in that Friday night and had it done, figuring the weekend away from the stress of work would be the best chance of it working....and it did ! But unfortunately only for a few days. I was on 'standby' at work that Monday, and after already working about 14 hours during the day I was still getting emergency call after call and the stress level was going through the roof when I started realizing I'd be pulling another all-nighter driving around from emergency to emergency, but couldn't have my old familiar cigarette's to help me stay calm. I forget exactly what happened but I think someone might have honked a horn at me and I exploded ! ... , at that point I headed towards the nearest convenience mart to buy a couple of packs, and called my wife to tell her it was either I get to smoke again, or she's probably going to have to come bail me out of jail, the choice is hers !..... LOLOLOLOL

I use to like hashish in tobacco. I tried it and didn't hate it, but didn't start smoking it on a regular basis either. Plain old 'weed' was good enough for me, and back in those days I used to always smoke a joint before my workouts. Like many of us knew back then it actually helps with concentration for a great workout... Same goes for opium, I was a good friend and training partner of a competitive bodybuilder who sidelined as a drug dealer, and I remember him getting the bulk opium shipments right 'off the boat', all wrapped up ready for sale in individual clear cellophane wrappers. For all intents and purposes it was a highly professionally manufactured product, and he considered himself and acted like a highly professional salesman "providing a rare and much sought after product to responsible adults"... , the good old days
