So a good friend of mine just went to the slammer for at least 5 years. He's my age, 53, so not a young pup. Physically he has always been very athletic, probably 220lbs, 6'2" or so. Within a few weeks he got a beatdown from the bully on the unit, had another guy taunting him about wanting to put his Johnson in his ass, etc.. He has no natural aggression, that's the big thing I see about him that marks him as a target, and he freely admits he didn't "grow up rough", "never been punched in the face before", but had a very upper middle class/lower upper class upbringing. Anyway, fast forward a couple months, he's writing he's down to 200lbs, "in better shape than I was 20 yrs ago". He said mostly they run the stairs, and do endless calisthenics, no weights on the unit. I'll keep you posted with any other prison fitness details. He did say they all use this book called "Your Body is Your Barbell". I might check it out.

Burpees is a common exercise, lots of them in various forms. There are several YouTube burpees practitioners who did time and share. Moses Cuevas comes to mind but there are many others.
