I like to break it up into ~/~ 5 to 15 minute segments throughout the day and don't really know what my total time is. Although, for exercises like stick moves, walking or unweighted movement like twisting arm swings, I can go longer. Length of time depends on how long it feels good and, at times, has gone for, probably, an hour or more.

Frequent, brief standing helps mitigate the impact of sitting all day .

I find standing beneficial. I work in an office (computer support) and any excuse to stand up is welcome. When I have to visit a user, I'll go the long way around the campus. Similarly, when nature calls, I use the facilities as far from the office as possible. I also go for a walk at lunch time, weather permitting. In the gym, I do most of my weights standing up - I find it better for my lower back, which I injured in a motorbike accident.
The ultimate would be to get rid of the furniture and stand up while watching TV, but that is probably going too far.

Come work with me. By the end of the day you will be glad to sit.

Our illustrious and apparently perpetual AWOL fearful leader Bruce has said he enjoys a good sit.

Obviously standing still too much can create problems . Office workers can achieve a "Devine balance" by alternating sitting and standing .

Let’s not forget the squat, as in Asian Squat, my current fitness training preoccupation. It’s a legitimate alternative to standing when talking a break from the drudgery of long sitting.

Indeed! Universal posture throughout the ages for so many practical reasons when one has no furniture, workbench, food prep/serving counter, game table or commode available.
