RIP Bradley Steiner
Read many of his articles in Guns & Ammo magazine in the 1980's and then later in Iron Man magazine.

I think I found out about him from Mike Brown's mention of Combato back many years ago.

“’American Combato (Jen-Do-Tao)’ is one of the most recently developed formal martial arts systems. It was founded in 1975 by Professor Bradley J. Steiner, who is today the internationally recognized and acknowledged 10th Degree Black Belt “Shinan” (i.e. “originator”) of the System.”

I enjoyed many of his articles and books. I wrote him twice over five year period but never answered back. I know the Whammer had issues with him regarding WW2 combatives
Thanks DG

I read many articles from him in Iron Man and Musclemag International before the Inet where he made more headway into Martial Arts, which he also talked about in his books. He was the champion of old P.C. era and the Hard Gainer. I also bought 5 of his books through Musclemag in 1990 when they sold for about $12 for all 5.
R.I.P. Mr. Steiner!

Brother Steve I have those too. They are very well written and worth hundreds now too if you can find them. One was on fitness, one on powerlifting, one on hard gainers, building Herculean strength and I forgot the other one. He also had an ab training book. You can buy his book on Mr. Hinbern's site superstrengthtraining.com/bradley-steiner

This was an email from Hinbern
Hi John, While I enjoy what I have done for well over 50 years, there are some things that I dislike immensely. One is word of the death of a friend, colleague, or customer. Yesterday morning, my good friend, Brooks Kubik, asked me the question that I never, ever, want to hear… “There are reports on line that Brad Steiner passed away yesterday morning. Have you heard anything?” I replied that I hadn’t and immediately did some research. Unfortunately, I discovered that it’s true… Professor Bradley J. Steiner passed away Sunday morning. While he was better known in the weightlifting-world as “Iron Man” magazine’s featured-writer on strength training for decades, few readers knew that his life’s work and profession, actually, was that of an expert, and authority, on real-world combat training. He was a teacher, writer, speaker, mentor, etc., for well over 50 years. While he was Founder and GrandMaster of “American Combato,” he taught special agencies and teams in his own method of hand-to-hand combat... “originator”) of the System.” As a writer, Professor Steiner had written over 30 published books. In the world of self-defense, his magazine articles appeared in “American Handgunner,” “Combat Handguns,” “Security,” “Soldier of Fortune,” “Cavalier,” etc. In the world of weightlifting, he was "Iron Man" magazine’s featured-writer for decades. His magazine articles also appeared in “Muscular Development,” and “HardGainer,” magazines. His writings were popular simply because they produced RESULTS. He was a staunch advocate of sensible training methods that included heavy, basic, movements, proper nutrition, and plenty of time for recuperation. He was an inspiration to other famous Iron Game authors, such as Brooks Kubik. Professor Steiner, and I, exchanged telephone calls, letters, and emails, for nearly 50 years. In an ever changing, troubled, and dangerous world, I appreciated his wry wit, sense of humor, and clean, honorable, approach to living. I, for one, will miss him… Until the next time… Yours for greater strength, Bill Hinbern P.S. “Heavy weight is the main key to strength gains. 20 minutes of heavy lifting will build more strength than 3 hours of light pumping.” – Professor Bradley J. Steiner P.S.S. Please take a moment, John, and share your thoughts about Professor Bradley J. Steiner and his writings.
