Have you ever noticed the physiques on native Thai fighters vs their European Muy Thai opponents? They are always rugged & their fighting prowess illustrates this. Europeans never seem to quite make the grade. Even with buff Frank Zane looks. Native Muy Thai fighters train in hot humid open air camps as a matter of routine. The majority come from poverty & fighting competitively is a way out for many. No climate controlled spaces for them like gyms across North America. Then it hit me: "Heat Shock Proteins"(HSP) are promoted in environments like that. HSP has a host of benefits like healing, growth & recovery to the max.

Historically speaking, the best boxers almost all came from dirt-poor living conditions and tough environments. Soft living just isn't conducive to fighting prowess.

When genetic propensity meets the endeavor it excels at, you can get impressive results.

Damn lost my post. Oh well, was going to say how tough the fighters were when I would go watch when in Pattaya, Thailand. Slim, muscular and hard as nails.
Would anyone want to take this guy on?

This goes for the real world too," dirt-poor living conditions and tough environments. Soft living just isn't conducive to fighting prowess." People that have easy jobs and don't do physical labor can become soft. Exercise can help to some extent but You can't come close to hard living, genetics or not. Some people take things for granted.

People w/o the genetics for hard living most especially in third world countries with no safety net simply don't make it out of childhood. Therefore they don't breed offspring with similar inferior genetics. Tough conditions don't create tough people, it eliminates the weak ones.

Over time the countries with best health care end up with weaker less physical optimum specimens. We propagate the weak in the name of "the right thing to do" one could argue that eventually it's detrimental to the species. I won't make that my next TED talk.

Point well taken. The American Indians were, without question, exceptional physical specimens...probably because the weaklings had been weeded out long ago. One of the reasons the colonists plied the Indians with booze was to degenerate them.
