From my personal experience I like Matt's take on this. Watch this video starting at 5:17, his explanation of isometrics is right on point...

Good points by him Magnus. Matt is talking more about pulling and pushing on immovable objects. That gymnastic stuff definitely could build strength and muscle. But it's beyond the capabilities of most. Plus the risk of injury to the working man is pretty high. It does look cool though. I have done some hand-balancing in the past which is pretty fun.

When he speaks about the inverted cross raise with the dumbbells, I think this is essentially the old time strongman exercise called the Crucifix Hold. I may have to start playing with that one.

Agreed about the gymnastic stuff possibly causing injuries, but take a look at the 'accessory' exercises that he's doing, and the example of how those types of exercises compliment the isometric 'holds', and vice versa...
It's been my observation and experience that Isometric exercises alone are fantastic for specific strength increases, but definitely won't build muscle size anywhere near what a person can build with proper bodybuilding and / or calisthenic training, however, when properly utilized, the Iso's are a valuable addition to the program and put the 'finishing touch' on strength and physique

The Hooks and bands are outstanding for all straight arm work.

Owners of the Sierra Strap can hit the bypass key on Dragondoor's spendy Isochain .

Owners of the Sierra Strap can hit the bypass key on Dragondoor's spendy Isochain . No shit. I like how they talk about it being all high tech and then they are building the electronics in china. Good electronics like this already exist. There are a couple of isometric exercisers on the market that have them - medical grade stuff, not cheap electronics from China. Just think of this device and then imagine Steve Justa being told he should order one. I can see the Dragon Door thing being a POS and the electronics dying after six months of use. Also, if doing max effort iso's why does it matter in the slightest that we know the amount of force we generate? I don't think it does. The only good would be if we wanted to do a certain percentage of our strength, but if I really want to do that and can't stand not knowing or approximating, I can always load a barbell to x percent and hold the lift at whatever position.

Well said, and any post mentioning Justa is a bonus.

To me, Isometrics are another tool in the toolbox. Weights, bodyweight, VRT are other tools. Then on those tools go the attachments such as rep ranges, volumes, intensities, rest periods and so on. Before you know it, you've got something so complex you run for youtube looking for one simple thing that does it all. There is a joke in there and truth as well.
These days I treat my workouts more like play time than business time.

I got an email from Logan Christopher about this device this morning. Rea it all and at the bottom he made a disclaimer that he did get some kickback for sales on this thing. I emailed him back and told him what I thought about it and sent the video of me using the strap and hooks for the back press isometrics. Told him that the machine was limited due to the nature of its design and that Bruce's was much better.
I also told him there was only one that I knew that was much better than Bruce's and that was JP's strap....
