Question for JR: Was it really Sue Ellen's sister who shot you? I don't get that reference, is it a movie or book? You must be young. In the 70's and 80's, the biggest soap opera on TV was Dallas, and the burning question throughout the era was "Who shot JR?"

Yesterday it was bw squats , push ups, Hammer machine 1 arm iso rows, 4 sets of flutter kicks, and a 50 minute walk, today the gym I belong to has a lap pool so I swam 32 laps, breast stroke and freestyle every 5 laps, can’t do to many freestyle laps because it bothers my left shoulder, a great total body workout in 30 minutes.

2 days ago: Deadlift (low position) Bridge press(quarter position, supported by shoulders and feet)
Yesterday, instead of rest day, I went to a friend's gym (he is the owner) because he wanted to learn what overcoming isometrics is about: he trains people in the yielding version ala steve maxwell. We did:
-Overcoming iso Power curl (90° and 135°) as pre-exhaustion with grenadier grips -Yielding iso pullup with one arm at chin level and the other extended in front -Pushups on an unstable surface, feet elevated, when force drops becomes a yielding iso until just shy of failure -Overcoming iso incline floor press (quarter position, various degrees of inclination) with grenadier grips
By now my arms were fried Then:
-Yielding iso Crucifix pull -Yiending iso movement for rhomboids (similar to crucifix pull) -Yielding iso concentration curl
Rest for a few minutes
-Overcoming iso front squat(2/3 position) -Overcoming iso back squat(2/3 position, towell on traps)
Great workout, I extended myself because I had not had a rest day and for doing too many exercises. Still, we tried many things and my friend loves overcoming isos and understands its potential. I love yielding isos, different to overcoming but as useful.

6/21/2019 - First day of Summer 2019 workout
#1 - weighted bar dips with 20kg KB start new round every 3:00 - 7 rounds of 5 reps and 1 round of 4 reps = 39 bar dips in 21:19.
#2 = weighted alternating pull-ups and chin-ups with 24kg KB start new round every 3:00 - 8 rounds of 3 reps = 24 reps in 22:14 - started 8th round longer than 3:00 due to phone call - felt strong, wasn’t expecting 3 rep rounds for all 8 rounds but got them all! Hanging in there performance on latter rounds to tap chin to bar on 3rd rep made me proud, bottom line, a good pull-ups and chin-ups day.

Question for JR: Was it really Sue Ellen's sister who shot you? I don't get that reference, is it a movie or book? It's a joke based on the TV show Dallas.

..... There is no point to train the upper traps with isolation exercises if you ask me I do few, if any, isolation exercises. I like to do compound exercises, and try to fatigue as many muscle groups as I can during any one exercise. JRG: You mentioned "external rotation (warm up)". Were those exercises any of the ones shown HERE. Yes I train all of those vectors but with bands. Only one variation I do with 2,5kg plates

I had a great workout yesterday....nothing planned, just spontaneous Did some tumbling on the mats, some ring work, band assisted HS pushups and then onto the 2x4s i have laying on the garage floor thatI walk across to improve balance and since they are warped, it makes it challenging to maintain your balance as they move Walking lunges on the boards followed by pressing a 40lb sandbag and walking again around the boards, forward, turn, backwards etc. I really enjoyed this, especially as I have gotten away from "sets and reps" workouts and like something different

Yesterday, during the noon hour, I ran 6.19 miles in exactly one hour. I’m training for the Wharf to Wharf, a 6 mile fun run from the Santa Cruz Wharf to the Capitola Wharf. The run is on the last Sunday in July.
I ran fasted, as I do for most of my workouts, during the 17th hour of my fasting period which yesterday lasted 18 hours and 25 minutes.

45 minutes health bounce (a great, if not better, variation of jumping rope) on the Urban Rebounder, holding 8lb dumbbells for the first 38 minutes. I was going to stop then but after the weights were down, it turned out that only my arms were tired. Not just holding the dumbbells, I did presses(overhead, forward), raises(forward, lateral, upward), curls(biceps, triceps), and flyes(1 set of chest flyes, didn't flow well on the rebounder) in multiple sets of 8. Also did 1 set of brief, maximal, full body isometric contractions, 8 second hold 3 times.
