Dudley Castle is about a mile from where I live, and these buildings date from the 13th centuary. Strangley, it is now smack in the middle of Dudley Zoo.

Why didn't they put roofs on their buildings back then?

I thought those were just normal sized American houses as opposed to the shoe boxes we live in.

Europe isn't the only place with castles. Castle definition - A castle (from Latin: castellum) is a type of fortified structure built in Europe and the Middle East during the Middle Ages by European nobility. The pictures you posted are probably Mock Castles which became popular from the 18th century onwards, as during the Middle Ages there were only around 27 people in North America and they all lived in a big tent But I must admit even though some of those mock castles are a bit McMansion looking, that little Boldt island one that pictured twice, looks really cool, I would love to live in something like that.

Actually, years ago we took our little ones to Disney World, and on one morning, I rushed to the castle and made reservations for dinner that evening. We dined in the great hall high up in the castle! It was great - big oaken tables and candle chandeliers and Medieval tapestries and wenches serving us!

yeah Disney world is pretty cool in a white trashy kind of way, I travelled there twice from the UK, but just for my kids you understand, obviously, I am far too sophisticated for all that nonsense
