..... Sometimes I'll also try and "prime" my body with some foot stomps or some explosive movements, although that's not really the same thing. "Foot stomps", huh? Never thought of that one before. Nice! Maybe I'll try that sumo-style!

Strength training:
With weights and it is non-ballistic, this is going to sound crazy, but, unless I am working out at 4 or 5am I'll use minimal warm up. Maybe a set or two of a few push ups or some other exercise done slowly but that is about it. Minimal warm up efforts. But even with the early workout, after a little walking around -- empty the dish washer, take out the trash and recyclables, etc. -- it is a little stretching, then the push ups or light squats.
If I'm doing ballistic training -- eg KBs -- definitely more warm up work such as two - three sets of light curl & presses with DBs, moderate hamstring stretch over progressively larger (for me) ROMs. Or, if I'm working out while doing yard work, etc., then less warm up just a few sets of light DB prep work.
Aerobics: light stretching or yoga, first, then slowly get into the aerobics.
The warm down and post workout stretch, even for a couple of minutes, is just as important, IMHO.
