www.studyfinds.org/vitamins-supplements-a-waste/I did not always believe this but the longer I live the more I think a balanced diet of wholesome foods is probably the best way to go. I think a multivitamin mineral supplement is OK especially since food is not as nutritous as it used to be. I have met some that eat a crap diet and then try to fix it with pills and powders

Beyond shadow of a doubt, the most important thing you can do to increase your healthspan is to exercise and be active daily.
I spent some serious cash on stuff like NMN and resveratrol, and noticed nothing from them.
Eat real foods, and keep moving.
Dr Peter Attia, whose knowledge I respect said exercise is at least 5x better for longevity than any of those new cutting edge supplements, and the only benefits of these substances goes to the people selling them and capturing your money.
People think they can eat a bad diet and supplement their way out of it. Nope.

There are definitely quality supplements that will do good things for people, but not until they fix their diet. There was an article someone posted here on the forum a while ago that said exercise even trumps bad habits like smoking.
Eat clean. Exercise.
Only then think about finding beneficial supplements. If I only took one supplement, it would be ancient plant strata derived liquid minerals. Next after that, I'd add blue-green algae/kelp/seaweeds. Third would be fungi/mushrooms. Fourth would be organ meat: liver.
So, basically, my top supplements are just food. Most important when selecting effective supplements is to vet the source for quality. (Minerals is from the plant matter because it's what the plants eat. Prolific organic gardeners feed the soil of their plants with clean organic minerals. So it goes; We feed the soil, soil feeds plants, plants feed us [and animals we eat, of course].)

My first clue on the verity of that article was "...... panel of experts ......." Teehee. I wonder if they are the same panel of experts who came up with "Vaccines are SAFE and EFFECTIVE"?

Only supplement I ever used extensively was dessicated liver powder, supposed to give you great endurance...based on the infamous swimming rats experiment. Didn't do anything for me, and I did a little digging years later and found the swimming rats thing has been widely misreported, it was designed to determine if dessicated liver increased your resistance to cold, which perhaps it does, but it had nothing to do with endurance. The lies people will tell to make $$$$$$$$$$$$$...

Third would be fungi/mushrooms. Fourth would be organ meat: liver. How is liver a supplement? It's food. You buy it from the butcher, m8. ( 1) How is ancient plant strata derived liquid minerals food, m8? ( 2) 1. I was thinking ahead to desiccated (dried) liver, tabs, capsules, powder, made from the organ meat. Yes indeed, liver is food that can be bought, but years ago, after reading a book titled "Let's Eat Right To Keep Fit" by Adelle Davis, I tried eating some chicken livers every morning before my manual labor job. Due to time involved, it became a chore to do and I became put off to do it every day, day after day, chicken livers in the morning, so I opted for the capsules on days when I didn't actually eat it. In my experience, especially for the laboring stiff, eating/taking liver makes a noticeable difference in energy and endurance when regularly consumed. I could tell the difference when I wasn't consistent. It was most noticeable to me when returning to my physical job, after vacation with my wife, if I didn't take my supplements with us. 2. Long time ago, the minerals we need were in the soil, taken up by the plants during growth and then, humans and animals ate the mineral-rich plants (food), receiving the minerals they needed. Some of the mineral rich plants died, uneaten, and became buried under layers of earth. Before humans began messing up the earth, minerals were consumed when they ate foods and drank the water that contained them.

I imagine Big Pharma has something to do with this study. For years certain congressmen in the USA sided with Big Pharma and the medical profession in going after the supplement industry. Several years ago their was an effort to make people go to their doctor and have a doctor written prescription for something as simple Vitamin C. A modicum of common sense will let you know Pharma and the Medical establishment are more concerned about bilking the citizenry than they are about the effect of Vitamin C on a person. The money trail would lead to greedy, filthy establishments in this particular case.
