Lardy I also think fruits are very important too. But basically yes. You summarized it nicely. But many many people know are pursuing variants of the carnivore diet where it is almost all meat to the exclusion of everything else. I think that is a big mistake. I believe all the macro-nutrients are important and also genetics. Up in Alaska, Inuits eat lots of blubber and animal products and do OK Absolutely! I tried carnivore, and couldn't stand the taste of meat after a short while. It's way too extreme for me, and I think only a small part of the population is built for that. That said, I know wheat and gluten are pure poison for me; that's the reason paleo and also the Bloodtype Diet work so well for me. I do have to work on my hydration, though. There are days I barely drink half a liter of anything. Hydration should be guided by thirst. If you are eating a fairly clean diet and not feeling particularly thirsty then you are getting enough water one way or another. Ignore the myth that if you are thirsty you are already dehydrated.

I have one of J.J. Virgin's books. I found it real cheap. I'd be lying if I said I didn't eat Oatmeal and sprouted whole wheat. But I have a question or two for this style of eating You guys are talking about. First I will say I never liked baked/boiled potatoes. Never liked the taste of them, I have to force myself to eat them. They actually make me want to vomit. I don't know why this is. The only way I can eat any white potatoes is roasted with brussel sprouts and onions. I do like sweet potatoes. My favorite are the Japanese ones. Being that I work outside I usually bring my lunch to work. With the gluten free eating You guys are talking about, give me some ideas for lunch. I have no way to heat anything up. And I do know the idea of eating when You're hungry, I'm always hungry. I eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack because I have certain times I can eat. So I'm curious about this gluten thing. I know some guys like fasting and some guys don't like to eat. I'm not going to starve myself when I'm physically active everyday. I eat a "man salad" as I like to call it most days for work Roast beef sliced. Spinach. Walnuts broken up. Onions. Salad Tomatoes. Cucumber. Sauce of choice, I tend to go for a home made Chilli Chutney with a natural sugar for my condiment. I eat a HUGE box of this, it takes me like 15 minutes to eat it.

I like that pumped feeling when I'm really well hydrated. I used to be in the "drink when you're thirsty" camp, especially after reading Art DeVany's book. But what I'm noticing the last two days is I feel a lot more energetic and pumped when I drink about 3.5 liters per day. Mr. Potatohead's post about the anabolic qualities of water really drove that one home for me.

I think "drink when thirsty" is still OK if one just wants to minimally avoid dehydration, but I'm drinking more water and feeling more anabolic at exercise too.

This is probably where your salad calories are. You could eat the same salad, minus the sauce, and it would be good for fat/weight loss. When I eat a salad like that, I use a smashed up avocado or a Tbsp of oil, like black seed, with a Tbsp or two of Alessi regular balsamic vinegar. This removes the sugar and drastically (depending on the amount you're using) lowers the calories which may be contrary to fat/weight loss ....... assuming that is important to you, but I'm aware that it may not be.

Truth is I fully load this bad boy, it's a meal to get me through a long day at work which doesn't include loads of bread.

I've watched this in the past and thought I had posted it. I may have, but I could not find it in a search. From June, 2018, "Let Food Be Thy Medicine" is an excellent discussion, presented by University of California TV (UCTV). Over 13 million views now, it might have been beneficial if more people had watched this before 2020.
"Panel of experts" teehee, but at least it does give all of their names and titles to establish responsibility for the content.
Good to listen to, but also it has a lot of slides that support what is being said, but not repetitive of it, so best to watch too.

An interesting discussion on diet with Shawn Stevenson and Tom Bilyeu, September 6, 2022.
In the section about covid-19 they mention that the co-morbidity hierarchy of people who died is: 1. Obesity 2. Fear and anxiety 3. Diabetes So, fear and anxiety beat diabetes as the co-morbidity in those who died with the CV. Wow!

I have given up grains. Not doing carnivore or really even keto anymore, at least not on purpose, but I don't really like vegetables and barely like fruit beyond 3 or 4 types (blueberries/cantaloupe/bananas/apples). I will eat some dried fruit like dates/figs/prunes. I mostly eat meat, eggs, lactose free milk, and paleo "bread" I make with ground nuts and arrowroot flour. I'm dropping fat without even trying really. I feel like grains are just putting the wrong fuel in the machine, nothing good will come of it eventually. Having a "bread" made from paleo ingredients is the key for me, as I did also get burnt out on meat alone on the carnivore kick.

I do Alternate Day Fasting. 36 hours. Sometimes, I'll do the Twinkie Diet for variety. My blood profile is great. My BP is 105/70 & I'm too sexy for my body.

I'm VERY picky about my potatoes. First choice is from my own garden. Second choice: A friend's organic (no spray or chems = some number of blemished potatoes) Third is similar to second, but I may not actually know the organic seller. Fourth and desperate last is to buy them at the grocery. If I buy them at the grocery, I sniff them good, and if I detect ANY HINT of chemical or oder other than dirt, I pass and try somewhere else.
Commercially grown potatoes, whether labeled as "organic" or not, are one of the most heavily chemically treated crops. The organic growers cannot use the SAME chemicals as the regular growers, but the chemicals they afre allowed to use are just as nasty.
This is info from a friend who has an (real) organic farm and in the past, has worked for both commercial and "organic" potatoe growers and may only apply to US ??? I don't know, but something to consider.
Also, when cooking my potatoes, I start by scrubbing them, then steam them which may help to sweat out any trace of ?? I have tossed whole bags of potatoes because when I cooked them, I could smell the chemicals, and when I bit into one, it was nasty, so out they went. Lesson lerned. Sniff like a dog.
