.....vvI know people (several who, not overweight or unhealthy to begin with, began it in their mid 20's in the mid 1990's) who have been on statin meds for decades now and they make zero effort to change diet and lifestyle, just have a Lobster and dunk each forkful in butter or a steak dinner and pop a Lipitor ! Statin meds for decades? Are they rather befuddled by very little challenge now, m8? Statin drugs dry up myelin which is mostly cholesterol that the brain floats in. A school friend at age 27 told me his doctor found his cholesterol to be about 280 and put him on lipitor. He has been on it ever since. He was about 5'8" ish and 158 lbs. I also worked with a woman who was 26 at the time and her cholesterol was 300. She was a gorgeous beauty of about 5'5" and 115 lbs. She smoked and drank hard. She also went on statins and ultimately married a doctor in another state. There are more cases similar. The 90's seemed to be a time when the medical profession thought the lower the cholesterol the better. Never mind the facts that some folks had high numbers - well over 240 and lived without statins to their late 80's or into their 90's. Seems like it was a hoax.

Are You guys talking about baby aspirin 81mg? Yes. I try and take every other day, but sometimes go 3 days without. When I remember to take it is when I already had citrus fruit or a vitamin c tab, so it's never on mind to be diligent with it. I'm thinking of giving it up when I run out. I knew guys on the football team in school that would take up to 10 regular aspirin after hard practices or games, which I thought was insane. I read the late pro wrestler Bruiser Brody would take about 6 aspirin so when he bled in a match it would come out faster like water and look horrible. It's part of the reason he died after being stabbed in Puerto Rico - he bled out too quick.

I don't check mine, but if I'm fortunate, I want the total to be 225 to 280. That would be great to have the cholesterol that your friend had. Cholesterol is in every cell of your body and it is sent to repair damage. When people eat table salt, for example, their arteries are damaged with tiny cuts from the powdered glass/silica that they add to table salt. Cholesterol does its job by rushing to make a repair and the docs find cholesterol at the site of damage, so, since they want to sell drugs/make money, they want to lower the cholesterol artificially with drugs instead of telling the patient to just quit eating stuff that causes damage.
It's the same pattern of incompetence (at minimum) that is consistently displayed by big pharma/modern germ-fraud medicine.

The late Peary Rader of Ironman said in an issue of his mag. from the 1960's (that I have) he had 225 cholesterol and at that time (1967? when he was about 53) was in the normal range of 240 or under. Rader lived to 82, older than Atlas, Reeves, Columbu, Scott, Oliva, Draper, and Park, etc.

Mr. P will share a little of this personal info with you regarding this part of your post:
Most important is drinking lots of WATER. (:note to self)
I also try to drink more water. My Dad made it to almost 99. He was bummed that 100 eluded him. He only drank about one cup (maybe two) of water a day most days. I used to bust his balls a lot trying to get him to drink more water. He told me it was unnecessary because his diet was full of the healthiest most nutrient dense water there was. I said what are you talking about Dad. He said all the fruits and vegetables I drink are full of water. And I have vegetable, bean or lentil soup almost every day for lunch and dinner. I get a ton of water. He was right as usual. When he was at the end, his kidneys were only functioning about 10% because of age. Things just wear out. He did not have to go on dialysis because he had very little "junk" to filter out. He died of prostate cancer basically. His other two brothers died of it too. The youngest died in his mid 70s (he liked to eat meat a lot). The middle brother made it to 85 ( my favorite Uncle) and he ate a lot of fruits and veggies and ate more meat than my Dad, but less than the meat oriented Uncle.
I have shared before, I like the Mediterranean diet, especially Italian variant of it.

Lardy I also think fruits are very important too. But basically yes. You summarized it nicely. But many many people know are pursuing variants of the carnivore diet where it is almost all meat to the exclusion of everything else. I think that is a big mistake. I believe all the macro-nutrients are important and also genetics. Up in Alaska, Inuits eat lots of blubber and animal products and do OK

If you want to make it more complicated, you could add fruits and eating watery foods like soups.
I have chicken thighs in the crockpot and used some of the broth with my celery, potato and blue green algae mix today. Almost all of my cooked food is either poached, boiled (crockpot) or steamed. I even poach steak.
Diet (whatever food you eat is your diet) does not seem complicated or confusing to me. It's not difficult, but to improve on the details requires personal responsibility, paying attention to your body and making adjustments as indicated.

Speaking of diets, has anyone walked by a Victoria's Secret store lately? All of the models pictured in the windows are now fat. Even the mannequins are beefed up. I guess I'm not surprised, "supersized" meals make for supersized people.

I knew about Bruiser Brody and watch him wrestler many times. It's crazy he took so many aspirin. The low dose is suppose to act like a blood thinner. I know I use to use cinnamon a lot. I believe it acts like a blood thinner also. I remember when I would get a little cut I would bleed like heck.

K boges - Nutrition Principles
1. Eat real food
2. Prioritize protein Protein requires more calories to digest than do carbs or fat. I've mentioned in the past that if one is eating a maintenance level of gross calories, by keeping gross calories the same, but reducing carb and fat calories, increasing protein calories, while gross calories stay the same, the NET calories will automatically be below maintenance level, which is ketosis and sheds fat. Once the body adjusts to the lower net calories, it come up out of ketosis and a new, lower gross calorie count will be required for ketosis to continue. Keto is nothing more than eating below the current maintenance level of calories. Ketosis = calories reduction. Ketosis can be achieved with all carbs, all fat or all protein, but what a drag that would be? It has nothing whatsoever to do with the macro ratios. It only involves reducing calories below maintenance level and keeping it there for a couple days or more.
3. Reduce meal frequency I would add that reducing portion size is also an option for creating calorie deficit.

It's all very simple, but simple doesn't sell diet books.
The reason the Potato Hack Diet works for fat loss is because potatoes are more satiating than any other food by 33%+. You feel quite full and satisfied even though you are eating less calories. It doesn't require a book to understand this though.
