Too complicated for me. I just attach a tennis ball to a band wrapped about my head & whack off on it. I have one of them too Mox , good for hand eye coordination It hasn't gotten quite THAT bad yet? I can still see below my belly. So I won't need a tennis ball to whack off on to develop my co-ordination.

I started off with Muay thai and from 17 up until I was 26 and competed a few times , for the past 6 years I've trained in Taiho Jutsu which is used by the Japanese police forces and people in the security field. My personal training is always based on self defense for the street and not fancy Van Damme moves , when I'm training on the heavy bag or shadow boxing i only throw a 4 combo max and I try my best to perfect them with the intention of ending the fight ASAP if I ever needed to defend myself.

I can think of a few things I'd rather whack off on to than a tennis ball A solid workout you can do solo in the house alone is to tie a washing line about chest height from one point of the room to another, get in stance bob under to your right and throw a combination step forward a couple of times whilst keeping your guard, bob under to the left side come up throw the same combo, this time take two steps back and repeat, good for the legs. remember to never cross your feet. One thing I always found difficult to apply to real life situations was "patterns, kata, whatever you want to call it" I think traditional martial arts spend too much time doing these.

It's a little bit of theory & alot of practice. Conditioning, sparring(movement) & sanchin kata (dynamic tension) are paramount with all other factors are considered. DT really preps agility & co-ordination I think? Most ppl aren't really ready to rock n roll & they forget everything they learned when they start mixing up anyways. If there are 20 tuff guys in this room, I'm not one of them but I'm too old, little & slow to run away. Running just encourages them. Better to confront him with anything u got handy like ur hands & target for maximum effect. Conditioning & willingness to close the distance quick freaks alot of people out but it's the best option. Being respectful too. Selling woof tickets is stupid. I'm no fan of those trapping, BJJ & wrestling styles either. They are OK until someone decides to stick a knife in ur ribs or their friends decide to stomp ur head from behind or while prone. That's my crappy 2 cents worth about martial arts in general.

Please allow me to display my ignorance on this subject. HERE is a quote from an article on the "Active Response Training" website, July 29, 2019:

I agree with pretty much everything you said, whilst BJJ and wrestling seem to be king of 1v1 unarmed combat because most grapplers beat a good striker if they can close the distance, it is very true a weapon or gang beating is a terrible place to be trying bjj or wrestling, at that point you are pretty much lying down and saying kick the sh*t out of me , also a lot of these styles are oblivious to a psychopath in full on fight or flight mode who will bite your nose off, try to pull your ears from your head and if there's a deadly weapon in sight good luck with your martial arts . Growing up in my city there was plenty of guys you didn't fuck with 9/10 of them had no martial arts training whatsoever and were more than likely unfit but if you pissed them off they wouldn't think twice about sticking a blade in your ribs or going round to your mums house and hurting your loved ones.

I had a small closed-door/backyard training group for Senshido for a few years. One day, a man showed up, late 20s/early 30s, I guess. He was one of the bodyguards of a mayor of a big city here in Germany. It was interesting because you could feel and see immediately that he was doing lots of mma. BUT. He had this habit of closing to stand-up grappling distance without really looking. He just barged in there and started tearing. The look on his face when I stabbed him with my training folder was priceless. He stayed with us for a while, and after the last training, he thanked us for showing him that weakness.

Here's how I train for self defense by myself at home Lovely, lively stuff, babba but I reckons you might do better in a street fight if you spent more time battering the bad guys and not yourself old son. Look what happened to this self harming beet farming bozo:
