Hi pierini, www.weightvest.com/50-lb-v-max-short-weight-vest/this is is the one I bought, about 12 years ago. The 50 lb short vest. Very well made, and the price hasn’t changed. Back then, they didn’t have the option of narrow and wide, or the different colors. A very useful tool. I use it mostly for walking, but it’s excellent for weighted dips, lunges, squats, and good mornings. I don’t use it anymore for chins. I started my walking with it with 30 lbs, ( back in 2007), and gradually worked up to 50. I dont use it full time, as I’m currently getting my cardio from hiking in the nearby mountains, but I do use it occasionally, and consider it a valuable tool in my fitness approach.

Thank you MBS, my fellow middle-aged man fitness brother from a different mother. If I buy one, it’ll be that one because of your experience and recommendation.
The thought of using it for weighted power walks is what comes to my mind. Not so interested in other uses because I can buy a weight harness for my KB and do weighted pull-ups and bar dips. Not interested in weighted lunges or running.
Got to do my due diligence and make sure this isn’t an impulse purchase as I currently enjoy a minimalist fitness toolbox. Thanks again.

Pierini,
Whiffet one time, if I remember right, that he used a ruck or backpack with weights for push ups. I actually used a backpack with a kettlebell with clothes all around it to keep it in one spot. I actually liked this for push ups and always wanted to try it for walking. Might be an idea for you.

www.angelfire.com/ny5/shenandoah/Grunt/Bodyweight.html (Scroll to weight harness) I made one of these to use for weighted walking. I added an adjustable strap that went through the weights and around my torso for some added stability. It worked pretty well. You could make one to see if you like weighted walking and/or to use until you get a vest. P. S. Welcome back

Thanks vegetus25, forgot about that jewel of a DIY webpage, haven’t viewed it in a long time. Always like the picture of Gruntbrain getting ready for his annual exam by his proctologist.
Never knew for sure but are you a vegan? If so, what do you think of Dr. John McDougall’s starch-based nutrition approach? I get his e-newsletter which is loaded with great content and recipes.
Thanks for sharing.

Well, I eat like one, but the philosophical/Catholic underpinnings for my diet don't fully match with what that word has become, so except for quick reference, I usually don't call myself one.
Anyway, I have followed a heavily, starch-centered diet for most of my life. I have found it to promote health, taste good, be inexpensive, and good for performance (athletic and fat-loss).

I've used weighted rucksacks before but a weightvest is much much easier on the shoulders and has less affect on the posture.

I've used weighted rucksacks before but a weightiest ........ has less affect on the posture. Yes indeed. I was mainly using it for extra body wt for pushups - which I no longer do, so .... it sits in the pile.

Got my belt with chain yesterday for weighted pull-ups and am very pleased with purchase. Tested it out today doing 8 sets of alternating pull-ups and chin-ups for 3 reps with a 20kg KB added weight. Back in the day, I could do 7 reps with this weight added.
This belt cost me less than $25.00. The chain is small in length, perfect for a KB but not long enough for a 45-lb. plate.

I bought a 40lb vest years ago and never did much with it. I was wondering do you think there would be a benefit if I just came home from work and wore it around the house for a couple hours a day? Would it build muscle "passively"? Do you think there would be any benefit to it, or will I just get shorter?
