PE was my favorite class in middle school and high school. It was always the first class I had.
We had great coaches who challenged us and they all ran a tight ship. Nobody would mess with a PE coach.
My PE class experiences definitely spilled over to how I view fitness training as an old turd.
I’m sure most of my PE coaches are gone now, RIP.

I wish PE classes would save the US. Like Dr. Jason Fung notes, in the 1960s, -70s and -80s, the American diet included white bread, chips, cereals -- look at pictures from those decades: BMIs were in target range. But along came eating all day long. Snacks during breaks, snacks after school. Add 'value' sized meals -- the servings are much larger than 20 or 30 years ago. Insulin levels are up all day long, eating hundreds of more calories/day -- a recipe for disaster. Random 1970s photo from the web...to Fung's point:
