Since I haven't posted in a while I'll share a short video. This is the philosophy that has worked best for me in the past when it comes to fitness, goals, and other life stuff. A couple of reasons that's not mentioned in the video are most people don't care, say things that could deter You, jealous, or just want to compare themselves to You to feel better about themselves. Not all people are like this and some people really need support. We are all different. I always accomplished stuff way better without sharing what I'm doing.

In the past I've been a big believer in this, especially when trying something new. I think maybe I read a pop science article about it saying that when you tell people about your goals, you already get the dopamine rewards before you've even achieved them, something like that.
In my opinion, you should probably be setting goals that you're too embarrassed to mention incase you don't make them. There are contrary examples, one that comes to mind is Eddie Hall claiming that he was a massive dickhead because it made him feel like he had to back his arrogance up, but I think most people aren't like that.

I like this," In my opinion, you should probably be setting goals that you're too embarrassed to mention incase you don't make them." If someone shares the goal and doesn't make it some people's motivation can take a hit because they are embarrassed. I know not everyone is like that but it is better not to take a chance. Maybe it's just me but I've had bad luck with sharing.

As macky shared once, long ago, about the monk in a far off land who said, "Simply do YOUR exercise. You have done better than you think."
I like what Al Kavadlo says. Do exercises until they become a habit. Then enjoy the process. No problem with motivation when one does what they enjoy.

I agree, if you tell 100 people how you are going to start lifting and drop 50 lbs, 99 of them will tell you why it won’t work, you can’t do it, blah, blah, blah. Surround yourself with people who encourage and support you.

The Cliff Notes version of this is “do what works for you.”

I just realised all these years I'd been reading it as "Kavaldo" instead of "Kavadlo".
