Hey Magnus question about the heavy weights. Did You do low reps or would You say You tried to use as heavy as possible on all rep ranges? I hope that question sounds right. I weight trained doing bodybuilding type routines for many years with what I would personally consider 'heavy weights'. I'll put it to you this way, in the anti-bodybuilder book 'Dinosaur Training' by Brooks Kubik, he went on and bragged about winning some silly "bench press contest" with an amount of weight that was....yawn....something that many of us common neighborhood 'bodybuilders' could rep out with during our normal sets. We really didn't didn't know we were doing anything special at the time, because had we known I guarantee there were a few of us who would have went down to those 'contests' and mopped the floor with those "champs". ...but yeah, in hindsight the old timers were smarter about the way they trained by including things like gymnastics, calisthenics, Indian Clubs, etc. that's the way to go if you plan on lifting for the long term. And even then I'd be cautious because there WILL come a time that the piper will need to get paid... Yeah I wouldn't have any room to take about the amount of weight I lifted either. I did do bodybuilding routines also but in my basement, . Probably would have been a lot stronger if I trained with someone like You. I have a knack for lifting odd objects like wood but when it comes to the weight room not so much. But that may be what drew me to KBs. If I use DBs or calisthenics I try to feel the muscle working and/or use tension. I'm getting back to PHA training myself now. Fred told me about it years ago and I stop doing it because someone took me off track with it. I always like when You share these things, Thanks.

I'd much rather be like JACK ! I had his last book, lent it out and never saw that book again. He was still lifting in his older age. I wish I could go somewhere and swim everyday like he did. , not exactlly like he did.

So if I wanted to do a push-pull-leg split with reps and sets what would you guys tell me? I seen most guys here don't have routines. I like routines because I have some way to measure my progress. I never registered here because I think I would get criticized for those reasons. I don't think I've seen many routines get criticised much on here. There are so many different reasons the members on here are training for so why would somebody be criticised when so many here have so many different goals?

I know I have posted stuff about different splits and I do use routines. I can't do random sessions myself because I won't stick to exercise and I have one time a day to exercise. Of course there are guys that are not into that. I don't remember being criticized. But of course someone may disagree with me on a subject. You probably should never follow someone blindly.

Fitness forums are a dying breed. Probably not a good idea to get your fitness information from a forum. A lot of know it alls that pretty much know nothing. There are a rare few on some forums that know stuff. But if you are just looking for the next big thing or winging it then forums are your place. Very familiar read. This lifted frum 4th paragraph on a Power & Might blog rant or vicey-versey?
