I just want to add that anyone curious about or interested in isometrics should give it a try and be neither discouraged nor driven to over-expectations by other people's experiences with it.
Science, some reasonable experts, and common sense say isometrics work. To what extent ? Test that yourself.

The Sierra Squat Harness is a worthwhile isometric tool; use an adjustable webbing loop instead of resistance bands.

Silvertoes, I congratulate you on what you've accomplished! You have truly explored isometrics to the highest level and proven that it is a very effective muscle building protocol. You say you've experimented with Soly's 5-6-7 technique, but have you ever tried John Peterson's vastly superior invention, with which he NAILED it! and obtained spiritual enlightenment as well as paranormal and psychic abilities?..........drumroll, please............... 6-7-8!!
No, seriously, it is always a pleasure to hear real results without any BS from someone who has actually put in the time and effort to master something. Again, congratulations!
Them's exactly my sentiments. To each his own. We all roll differently. As for me, I'm glad to be back on the weights and bands.

Yes, I just followed a simple principle in food, more quality & less quantity. I have ZERO qualifications to give exercise or nutrition advice. Thanks. I follow the same principle, although some of my menu items are different from yours. I want the most dense nutrition I can get. Focusing on dense nutrients makes it easy to avoid overeating. Like Michael Pollan says, "Eat real food, not a lot, mostly plants." I'm not a nutritionist either, but I play one on forums. Sounds like isometrics worked to kick in the muscles' memory of 8 months earlier?

Sounds like isometrics worked to kick in the muscles' memory of 8 months earlier? Perhaps, but the thing is I do not exactly believe in muscle memory concept, I think a fresh starter has better chance in faster development since his muscles will have to adapt faster to the new effort demands, and he's also very far from the plateau. Someone returning to exercise after long stop would also have the beginner advantage but he'll probably reach the plateau faster. So I think Isometrics as weight training as calisthenics would also benefit fitness freshmen.

The real laugher about the "5-6-7" protocol is that on the AMM forum we talked about that and similar hold durations years ago. When the old guy presented it on his forum and called it "revolutionary," several of us posted that his "revolutionary" method was not so earth-shaking as some of us had been doing it already.
When the old guy read our posts he called us "damned liars" and said we were ripping him off.

Nothing original or of his own making. What's old is new and what's new is old. Years from now he'll never change.

Remember how that was going to revolutionize the fitness industry and force gyms worldwide to shutdown? All it is, is a bodyweight circuit routine of which numerous variations can be found on numerous fitness forums.

Your right Mikey. But it is a shame on a couple accounts. Following some of the crazy advice has and will get people hurt. Whatever good advice is not of his own.
