I once made this thingy. Worked real well. The wrist roller is an addition and has nothing to do with the gripper. I decided to make 2 exercisers in one. I later added a cross pipe between the two vertical posts, below the weight stack. The reason was because if anything should happen, or break, guess where that weight stack was headed straight for?

My pleasure Michael. Really cool things that people come up with. This is one of my favorites. A really excellent implementation of a tomb of hercules

Sometimes it is less expensive to simply buy commercial equipment.

Bruce TR wants the v bar as recommended by Vince Gironda and Steve Davis so that you can vary your grip width. They are hard to find. Here is a really nice self standing one with an awesome company name. ( I got bit in the shoulder by one and it hurt like crazy) www.blackwidowtg.com/product_p/dip-station.htm

I made this for doing bench dips. Different size pipes could be used for different purposes.

Just made a couple of these guys.... The handle is a length of 1" PVC that I wrapped first with double-stick foam tape, and then tennis racket wrap. I stacked the plates and handle (in the configuration shown in the photo) over a 1" hardwood dowel, the dowel standing on end. I then marked the dowel flush with the top plate and cut it so that each end of the dowel would be flush with the plates on the ends when assembled. I drilled guide holes on either ends of the dowels for #14 x 2" hex head screws. I then got the handle and plates set up on the dowel and screwed the screws into either end with fender washers over each to hold everything in place.

Bruce that dumbbell looks nice. I have a question for You. I was looking in the Grunt & Shen's Workshop but couldn't find something. I had bought some adjustable DBs and kettlebells. My oldest son brought home 3 pairs of hex DBs. I like to make a DB rack from wood to get everything off the floor. I'm not the greatest DYier so I could use some ideas. Are there any homemade DB racks in the Grunt & Shen's Workshop? What do I look under? Thanks.

Here's a Dumbbell Rack made from an old Bed and Bench. There are step-by-step pics: Here's one that I designed and had built by a cabinet maker: These are both on the Isotonics page: www.angelfire.com/ny5/shenandoah/Grunt/Isotonic.htmlWhy don't try a browser search for DIY or homemade dumbbell racks?

Got some parts and put together these short-range exercise setups: One-hand deadlift This one the idea is to try a motion similar to bending a horseshoe: According to the specs the springs have a starting tension of about 65kg and at full extension, which is just 15mm, they'd be a bit over 100kg. I'm least happy with the handles, these are knockoff fatgripz and have a lot more give in them than the springs do. For one-hand deadlift, I can also use the Hook handles, but I might try and find something else for the horseshoe trainer.
