www.writeups.org/doc-savage-pulps-profile/"Doc was raised from the cradle to be a new type of man. He received physical training since the age of 14 months. Since that time he has always maintained a daily regimen of exercise. Only rarely has he missed a day.vThis is the secret of his incredible abilities and musculature. In all, the routine takes about two hours." That's what's nice about fictional characters. They can do whatever you want them to.

"...DT for 2 hours a day...."
So much for the advertisement that says DT only takes 15 minutes a day.

DT develops movement skillsets & is great for joint rehab. Not so much for the Doc Savage physique from personal experience.
Isometrics combined with dynamic exercise will make u ruff, tuff n' buff. Isometrics done by itself is meh? Most of the textbook applications with isometrics is as a supplemental adjunct not primary.

I have gone on several dedicated isometrics routines over the years. The last one was a few years back which lasted 12 weeks and with which I kept meticulous records. At the end, I posted my results. In that foray, as in every isometric only foray I have ever gone on, I lost size and muscularity. I did gain a bit of strength on some movements. The only isometric protocol that will build size is the 30-30-30 technique with which Silverlooks has garnered impressive results. I haven't, nor will I ever, try that because I just don't have the patience. I'd rather do sets and reps with bands and weights.

I have done them same as Bruce with the same results. With isometrics I lost size and after so long on and isometric routine my body would hurt. A soon as I did some kind of exercise with movement the pain went away. The only isometric protocol that I had better results than I expected was lighter tension and longer holds. I did lose size but I lost the last 10lbs I was trying to lose years ago without changing the way I ate. And before someone says that can't happen, I was in a calorie deficit already.
With self resistance I know I could have had better results if I didn't follow JP's ego based stuff. I wish I would have learned them from Bruce or Marlon Birch. I do not care anyone's opinion about Marlon. I know now if I was to take a more bodybuilding approach I would get better visual results and would feel good. The only challenge I noticed after years of doing SR was how I lost strength with external resistance and job tasks.
Like Bruce mentioned, I just don't have the patience for that stuff. I'd rather use bands, DBs, KBs, etc... For myself, I don't want to lock myself in to one training style. It's just not fun for me. If You like it I'm happy for You and enjoy hearing Your results and input.
Speaking of SR, has anyone heard from Bob? I hope he is ok.

I’ve never enjoyed isometric or self resistance exercises. Not doubting there efficacy. I just prefer movement.
Love my KB swings and one armed carries in the park.

The 30/30/30 protocol has been mentioned many times on this forum. I've tried it with *meh* results for hypertrophy. I either got stronger or had more muscular endurance. However, when I engaged static holds with a wider arc. (EG: stretched ROM positions), I got muscle. But who the hell wants to wait 90s for every damn position/rep u hold? For that sort of time investment involved I can bust out reps with resistance & get the same results I'm after. Long muscle length training is fantastic for working around injuries like my shoulders. It hurt like hell just to unzip my pants or take off a tank top. I could really do nothing for upper body training 9 months after my WWF match. Then I started doing DT this past April & it really kicked off the recovery process quick. I graduated from doing DT to long muscle length training (stretched holds) by August. I can now happily fap again! But high-intensity contractions are required for improving tendon structure. Period. Isometrics, by & large, mainly disinhibit the Golgi Tendon Organ (GTO) found at all origin & insertion points of tendons which prevents the body from ripping itself apart. The GTO is set at a conservative threshold too. My workaround for this above dilemma is simple: stretched ROM isometrics combined with DT applied afterwards. I'm fappin' in the rain Just fappin' in the rain What a glorious feeling I got motion again! I'm laughing at aches. So dark up above, The sun's in my heart And I've readied that latex glove....
