"Chris Hemsworth says he used blood-flow-restriction training to get 'arms like the legs of a racehorse' to play Thor":
I had never heard of this technique before. It seems that blood flow restriction training (also known as occlusion training) involves putting bands around the arms or legs, restricting blood flow during exercise. The claim is that it not only gives better gains, but also allows gains to be made with much lighter loads. (This might be useful if you are training around an injury.) As I said, this is news to me. I wondered if any of you have heard of it, or have even tried it yourself. Is it effective, and more importantly, is it safe?

I would have some concerns with long-term effects if it was carried on extensively. And those with HBP might do well to avoid it, even under medical control.
It seems unnatural to me.

Yes, we talk about it in THIS thread. Mentioned HERE. You can also use the search function to find other threads and posts about it by using terms like "occlusion" and "Kaatsu".

the big galoot probably tied them round his knucklehead too. Might explain his acting. Sick of hearing about these celeb superhero dummies and how they trained. Ass kissing ego maniac filled profession, acting and aint now way I would never consider not acting in front of no god damn camera for nobody or nothing. ...but if I did, i would be pretty special, think paul newman in cool hand luke mixed with charles bronson (the convict) and a dash of that david schwimmer guy.

I didn't know about this thread until just now. Ironically, I replied about this very topic with a member in another thread today.
I combined KAATSU ( aka, blood flow restriction) with German Volume Training primarily for my legs. My primary exercise was bulgarian squats. My schedule was a 4 day split: left leg/day 1, right leg/day 2, rest day, repeat again, weekend off.
I got the idea for the 4 day contra-lateral split from Ellington Darden. The reason I used that format was so as not to cause over-tonus or over-exert myself by training both legs on the same day with KAATSU bands.

Carlson, 10x10 is what they call German Volume Training. Vince Gironda used it. Will I be in that list, ?

I have dabbled in tra8ning calves on a different day, right Mon, left Tues sort of thing. My reasoning was more to do with not having to go through what I did for the right again, by Tues I would forget a little how painful it was. No way old barrel chest Ellingdon Darton is getting no credit for that. One thing though, you are aware this is how they castrate newborn lambs? Tighten a band around the nads and the conkers fall from the tree within a short while. Make sure you count your legs before you leave the gym moxy.
