- have been bolted onto my upper arms?
Do yours? No, neither do mine.
But I would like your thoughts on the best method to acquire such a marvellous pair. Funny little fella at the gym many moons ago, looked a bit like a miniature Northern 1970s Paratrooper, diminutive and with a fine moustache. His biceps were great, the man was always curling.
I tried doing no direct biceps work, lots of back work though and of course plenty of close grip chin ups but you know what, forfet what King Arthur Jones said about pull ups and dips, did not make my arms look great.
I am thinking high frequency might bw the way to go, and plenty of isolation work.
What are your thoughts, oh wise old timers (and youngsters such as yourself, Michael)?

Hi Carlson, If You don't mind me asking, How old are You? Anyway, my arms are not big. When I was in my 20's-30's my arms were their biggest which was about 2 inches bigger than they are now. When You are leaner Your arms actually look bigger also. When I first started weight training I worked my arms alot. I did a lot of bodybuilding sessions and had a decent amount of muscle. Probably around 2007-08 I stopped training like that because of some bad injuries and chronic pain. , I found JP, got out of pain but followed his ego nonsense and pretty much lost a good amount of muscle. I lost 50lbs of bodyweight though which was good for my health and injuries. Bruce is the one that got me training my arms again a couple of years ago. I actually enjoy arm training and think there is nothing wrong in doing it. Some say it's not functional but it really helps me with my jobs. I tried the Arthur Jones pullup and dips thing. You know, what everyone one says," All You Need Nonsense". I feel pullups in my back and dips in my chest so I never seen a difference either. There are plenty examples of people who don't get big arms from dips and pullups. On here Pierini is one of them. Carlson, I'm not sure if You're real person but I'll give You my thoughts. By the way, You crack me up. Do You do whole body or a split? I'm doing a whole body workout 3 days a week right now, You can see it on my workout log. Do You like variety or are You ok with a minimalist approach? For a minimalist approach You could do 10 sets of 10 reps with one exercise each for biceps and triceps. Try doing this twice a week. If You like variety try dedicating an arm day with more exercises depending on Your split. You can also try using different techniques like pre-exhuastion, rest pause, drop sets, etc... Let me know how it goes. Right now I'm doing some experimenting myself.

Thank you Michael, even in the months before I posted, when I was but a mere lurker in the shadows, I always thought you were one of the better ones here (though not necessarily high praise as there are some rum 'uns here no doubt). You dont know if I am a real person you say? I am too jaded to be insulted, mrs carlson has said as much for many a year, though the language used is less eloquent. I am 61 old, and despite a few obvious flaws I am in pretty good shape. Think of a knackered old car with a brand new, tuned up engine. Now forget that mental image and replace the motor with a bucket of rust and you have me. Still, I am pretty strong and get my share of attention from the ladies, and sometimes the lads which is not appreciated. I will get back to you about your biceps comments, mrs carlson is due back and I dont want to get caught out thanks Michael.

Do the ladies and lads fall off the elliptical when You pass by? Don't be scared of the lads. It's not there fault they fish on the other side of the pond. Anyway, You are pretty funny, You sound like a pirate, and I have a feeling You're not who You say You are. But I like joking around so I'll roll with it. , haven't seen Pierini posting in a while. Maybe he's trying to get me back for the tax thing, .

Michael, I took note of your spiffing biceps advices, so thank you for that sir. Kinda funny how you class 10 sets of 10 as minimalist though, stuart mcrobert you aint. Interested to hear about your poor experience following JP himself, assuming you did not want to lose size? I thought the guy was meant to be the second coming if Jack lalanne in the fitness world..its almost as if you paint the as some sort of blue rinse knobhead? Dont tell mrs c, she has a shrine to him in what was our bedroom. I think you are bang on about arms needing specialisation, and old carlson hears ya cloud and clear. I train haphazardly, no set routine but maybe I need one, thinking maybe 4 days a week half body each time so everything gets worked twice in a week, jobs a good un. By the way, mrs c has gnarly arms kinda abnormal imhpo
