One of my uncles was a small time boxing promoter in upstate New York back in those days, and he met 'Ingo' a few times.
..my uncle 'Mac' always said that Ingo didn't take his training anywhere near as seriously as he should have.

I bet your uncle could have told a tale about back in the day – a boxing promoter in 50s-60s in New York – id imagine the mob would never be far away – especially in heavyweight boxing at that time.
His Wikipedia says exactly the same about him not taking training seriously, hitting the nightlife etc.
Makes you think he could have been another Marciano if he trained a bit harder.
This is his next fight to win the heavyweight title – if anything this one is even more crazy-

Yeah he was originally from the Pitkin Ave area in East New York, Brooklyn, and lots of New Yorkers back then used to get 'bungalows' for the summer upstate, and boxing was very popular back then. What he used to promote was more on the level of what they used to call "smokers", but yes, I heard countless stories about the old days.
