Whenever I do any people smuggling I also try to keep a low profile by traveling 35 mph above the speed limit.

Also have loudspeakers blaring in Mexican with multiple arms sticking out of the vehicle waving at bystanders as you speed through compulsory Stop signs and red lights.

Unfortunately, it is a losing battle thanks to joe and kamala. I seriously doubt whether human trafficking and people smuggling started up with Joe and Kamala's election to office, or whether it got worse because of them. Both are big business globally, and I suspect Jones was only a small player trying to take advantage of the opportunity to make a few dollars. 100 to 200 per person is not a lot, considering Jones probably faces years in jail now.

No doubt it's been around forever, but I do believe there is a lot of evidence to the increase since 1/20. To just leave the borders open to anyone is a mistake, in my opinion, and I also believe we are suffering the consequences as seen in this small example. I bet there are semi-trailers loaded with people going up the highways.

There are busses and jet airliners being funded by federal dollars that are moving illegals around the country in comfort. The ones coming in via the coyotes are doing it the hard (and stupid) way or must really have a need to enter the USA as covertly as possible.

With a hundred thousand or more a month and about half being criminals, depending on what fake news source you listen to. They get all over the country fast, some in comfort from our tax dollars and those are usually the older moms and young kids. Since my entry into the insurance business in 1989 as an underwriter, and seeing the loss runs over 3 decades, I have to say the trucking industry has it's share of issues. Semi's getting hi-jacked for their goods is at times an inside job, especially when the goods hold high $ value. Moving things from point A to B to C for $ says it all. Underage kids from foreign countries being trucked around en masse has been going on for a while. The guy in the article is obviously a small time nervous newbie who could have gotten away with it if he kept within the speed limit.

People coming in via fishing boats being landed on remote beaches (along with huge drug packages left on the sand for pickup). In Auckland city back in 1995 I had to access the main telephone cable terminals for the whole building through a locked door in a Chinese restaurant. The owner wouldn't open the door until I threatened him (respectfully) with Police back-up and when he did, there was an ancient Chinese lady laying on a huge pile of newspapers. I mean "ancient". Given the respect that most Chinese have for their elders, it couldn't have been anything else but a case of illegal immigration, unless she was being held prisoner as collateral by a Chinese triad or similar. The owner looked nervous when I left, but I couldn't report him to the Police because I felt sorry for the old dear. Could have been his Mum.

The above story is true. Only the names have been changed to protect the guilty.......
NZ Police state that the 14K syndicate (Hong Kong base) is the most powerful Asian crime gang in NZ. Involved in the importation of pseudoephedrine which they sell to local gangs like the Hell's Angels in the manufacture and trafficking of Meth, and kidnapping.
I would hazard a guess that most of them are illegal immigrants. They certainly put pressure on the local Chinese community.

In America, was it better when the Mafia ran things because they were U.S. citizens? Stories of the late John Gotti and associates at the airport or docks waiting for shipments to be unloaded onto trucks and then hijacking the trucks to fence the goods.

That kind of stuff went on long before Gotti ever blasted his way into power, when I was a kid my mother usually did her 'Back To School' clothes shopping in one of the neighbors basements. Many times you could place an order beforehand because they knew what 'was coming in'... As far as I know everyone was in on it, and this type of 'business' was conducted in a professional manner so nobody got hurt except for the importers who considered it part of the cost of doing business in the NYC area.

Also more than a few of those truck heists were "give ups". The truck drivers hauling the freight would tip off someone they knew for money and feign getting hijacked or just leave the truck somewhere so it could be "stolen". If you read the book Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi which the movie Goodfellas was based on, there is almost a whole chapter on the details of stealing from Idlewild (later Kennedy) airport in Queens New York.

Yes, that's what I was eluding to. Where I lived we had a "wiseguy" or two (or three) living on every block in the neighborhood. They were our friends dads or uncles, or grandfathers, and sometimes also our little league baseball coach or just the friendly neighbor that took you fishing etc..
