Coming to a neighborhood near you - a gun ownership tax?

Gun owners in San Jose, California, will soon face a yearly tax and be required to carry additional insurance after their city council voted unanimously Tuesday evening to impose the new measures.

The forthcoming fee for gun ownership in the city has not yet been determined, but officials said that anyone found to be in noncompliance will have their weapons confiscated.

The city council's aim is to try to recoup the cost of responding to gun incidents such as shootings and deaths. According to the Pacific Council on Research and Evaluation, which studied the issue and sent a representative to testify before the panel, gun-related incidents cost the city roughly $63 million every year in the way of paying for police officers, medics and other expenses.

San Jose' huh? Sounds about right.

So, they're going to try to punish the honest property owners for the failure of the City Of San Jose's incompetent corporate employees (law enforcement) to do their job as advertised; "Protect and Serve"
And, the criminals, the ones who are causing this extortion, will continue to do their thing and not pay a dime. 
They don't understand their limitations, words like "un alienable" and "infringed", but someone who knows common law could make it plain to them.

I guess that SJ will first go and confiscate all the illegal guns before trying to tax law abiding citizens ?

Run an amnesty for a month. All illegal firearms to be brought in to the police, no questions asked.  Then the police and national guard go through the place with a fine-tooth comb and bring illegal firearms and their owners to Court, charged and convicted. Any resistance, shoot to kill where necessary. 

Clean the place out, THEN talk about tax for legit firearm owners.  It's time resolute and final action is taken to resolve the problem once and for all.  Here too in NZ.

If I can't do it to them, they can't do it to me. This is the limit of freedom; If I can't do it to you, you can't do it to me, no matter what your corporate affiliations are.
It is the same weight and intent as "Do to others what you would have them do to you" which sums up the Law and the Prophets. It's common law, un alienable and intrinsically correct.

I don't think that San Jose' is unique in attempting this criminal offense of Official Oppression, but I think the MSM is playing it up in anticipation of an "area most likely to comply" from the residents who are claimed by City of San Jose' Corp.

This is about social equilibrium and the preservation of the family unit which is increasingly under attack in today's world, in so many ways. 

All the "rights" etc are clearly laid out by Authority at the beginning re amnesty, no questions asked, end of amnesty, resolute action, and cleanup.  From then on, "normal" rights that people have are restored and all guns registered to the owners, who will pass a test to determine whether they are fit to own any gun, and who must undergo a course of safe handling and competence in using the firearm of their choice. 

As far as citizens' rights are concerned,  criminals have no such qualms about infringing innocent peoples' rights, and if The People want a degree of safety in their town, then for the period of one month (or other suitable time-frame) they must be prepared to have their houses searched. 

From then on when the amnesty is lifted and every house searched and cleared, anybody found with a gun they are not licensed for is immediately jailed for a mandatory period, such as three months and anybody offering armed resistance to arrest, or holdup etc is immediately fired on by Police or other members of law and order. 

If you want to live in a society that is reasonably safe, you have to accept an enhanced degree of control, at least for a while until as many illegal firearms are gathered up as possible, and disposed of.  

As usual, legal gun owners have nothing to fear from the Law, and may carry under rules clearly laid out when they take their gun course.

If that's what you label it as, then you're already under totalitarian rule in so many ways. You just don't think of it in everyday matters because you're so used to it.

It's a matter of degree of what citizens are willing to put up with in order for certain safety measures to be enforced resolutely, then relaxed once completed. Labels such "totalitarian" and "socialist" are only just that, labels.  They are used to "define" the "enemy" by the PTB. 

Your "freedom" is only relative. You're still compelled in a socialist manner to pay taxes, and if the US is like NZ, it's imperative that you belong to a bank. Otherwise how are your wages going to be paid to you, now that the days of payroll lineups are gone ?
 
Therefore you are directly under the control of some of the members of the PTB, the bankers.  And if you don't pay your taxes, your property rates, your car rego, which are examples of taxation, you know what's gonna happen, don't you ?

In other words, you accept these restrictions that directly feed not only the money-go-round, but the PTB, in order to live in a modern society in a coherent as possible manner. 

And you accept (grudgingly or not) those terms all your life.  In the meantime, criminals who do NOT accept those terms unless it suits them, prey on people such as yourself, often violently, and in America especially fatally via mass shootings, or any shootings.

And one of the prime reasons for all the shootings in America is the proliferation of firearms that are unregistered, and often illegal. In other words, what could have been a nutter's supermarket attack such as down south here in NZ with a knife where he wounded several people, is a fatal attack (and in a further range of danger) in America by the same sort of guy who had easy access to a gun. 

So if you believe that clearing out a city in a resolute way, then relaxing once again with proper gun ownership in place is "totalitarian" then please carry on with continuous addition of hundreds of innocent lives every year in America taken via shootings that continue to be endemic in a country that seems to be still under "frontier" mindset. 

And once again, update your prized Constitution to reflect conditions 220+ years later after it was written/ratified.  I'm sure the "visionaries" never ever contemplated a country where 1% own a third of the nation's wealth, and the next 9% own another third, leaving the 90% left to share the rest. 

If that's not totalitarian, I don't know what is.

Most don't know it, or even care if they do.  Others attempt to live "off-grid" which certainly relieves much of their "slavery" initially, but find themselves still under "the system" for much of their needs, or if they break an ankle and need medical attention.  

Getting married and having children places one even more firmly under the thumb. One is forced to accept dictates of their bosses even if they privately object strongly, for the sake of the welfare of their spouse and children. To hold their job in the face of injustice.

Normal citizens accept levels of slavery in order to conform to society's rules, and to help his/her fellow citizens, but at the last, that conformity itself is used by whoever the PTB is on the day, as virtual enslavement, cannon fodder for war, disposable labour in "peacetime". 

Obviously for some, "slavery" is too strong a word, and certainly The People do have a measure of choice, but one of the important definitions of slavery is "debt bondage" and that is manipulated in human trafficking, but in so many other ways as well in "normal" society, where families are now required to have a bank account of some sort, and at any rate are under the thumbs of the bankers, the Money Men, one of the main branches of the PTB.   Whole countries can be in debt bondage. It's a tactic used by those who seek to control, to gain power. 

Most people would not call that slavery, but it certainly is, because if said debt is not paid, then serious consequences can occur.  

I'm happy being a slave up to a point, in order to live reasonably comfortably, and have the opportunity to help others.  But it's not true freedom, because in a world such as this one, even "free" animals are virtual slaves to their needs for food and shelter, two basic requirements for most living creatures here on this planet.  They and us humans are compelled by Nature to "conform" and gather together in order to survive.

Most will say they are not slaves, but we are forced to conform in so many different ways that it's hard sometimes to realize just how much we are under rules of conduct in order to remain free of trouble.

There are many situations in life where what we do is constrained by our values, but that is not the slavery we're discussing, IMO.
