I had no idea a micro-biome can weigh 8 pounds. I might have two of those
Mr. Potatohead, do you eat sweet potatoes too?

Nice stormshadow, thanks for sharing! Yes, I eat many of the foods he mentions. I've had those Jap purple sweet potatoes. They have a different flavor, not bad, but definitely different, and they cook up (steam) in about half the time, if I remember correctly the last time I had them. I'll eat any color of potato ..... all potatoes matter! I still have one more butternut squash from last season to eat. It's huge. I'll probably get 4 or 5 meals from it. I usually plan ahead for a big one like that and eat almost nothing but squash for a few days. Squash with beans & onions. Squash on lettuce with an egg & garlic. Etc. Bought a watermelon today because it was "SEEDED". I've never cared for the seed less watermelons. They have no flavor, but the ones with the seeds are great if they come from a garden. This came from the grocery and I should have driven out to the country and bought one from the Amish. I won't make that mistake again. The seeds were tiny and they were many. I pitched about half of it. Had a bland, soft, soapy flavor. It was a very disappointing impulse purchase.

Thanks for the info, but before you buy into it keep in mind that there are those out there that dispute the whole 'Blue Zone' hypothesis... www.mikeroberto.com/2019/blue-zones-fraudroguehealthandfitness.com/truth-blue-zones/Why are some groups included and not others? Take the Adventists of Loma Linda, California; male Adventists live about 7 years longer than other white Californians, and this is ascribed to their lifestyle. The Adventist church recommends being vegetarian, although not all Adventists follow that stricture. But Mormons in California and Utah appear to have about the same increase in life expectancy as the Adventists, and they are not vegetarians. So why aren’t Mormons on the Blue Zone list? Is it because of an agenda?

I seem to do well with some animal protein, but, when I eat it, it's usually a much smaller portion than any other thing on my plate. The infrequent exception is when I crock pot meat and eat it all within three days.

I LOVE vegetables and gave the exclusively 'vegetarian' thing an honest effort about 10 years ago...
After about 6 months I felt like I'd aged 20 years. Strength and stamina decreased, joints were popping and hurting....F'ck that !!!, I felt much better within a few days of eating animal protein (mostly fish) and I've never looked back.

Rachel Ray looks like she's been eating a ton of carnitas. Another gordita makes it big in America. Good for her. Her grandchildren will love sitting on her big lap.

I've pretty much had the same experience as You. Although, the Clarence Bass way of eating is close to vegetarian. I've tweak my eating over the years which I include more animal protein. I like a more balance approach. When I was trying the vegan thing I couldn't stop farting, .

Less food, less stress, less pleasures etc... It works but it's boring.

Less food, less stress, less pleasures etc... It works but it's boring. Yes, it will be helpful if you find some other activity to replace food as the center of your life and main form of entertainment. You'll be increasing your energy and endurance too, which may free up more time, so you may want to find some interest, activity or hobby to enjoy in addition to exercise. The most important thing to strengthen persistence may be to discover the real reason WHY you want to change your life, but it is certainly turning a corner to explore a new path and different way of living. The reason I exercise and eat consciously is because it makes me feel good. I genuinely look forward to the exercise that I do and the other physical activities that just need to be done are made easier by eating a diet that helps me enjoy what I like to do.

I think I read fruit like oranges, grapes, and grapefruit are some fruits that may cause those symptoms.

I've read that citrus fruits may cause arthritis in some people. Cherries, especially black ones are very good against arthritis. Grapes should also be helpful.
