Back to JP, do any of you value anything he says? I enjoyed Pushing Yourself to Power, as I enjoyed Marlon Birch's book, both were similar in many ways. JP did motivate me and he had a pretty good physique. Not seen a recent one, last I saw he was very lean and had a sort of Vince Gironda hairdo. So is there anything good you can say about is methods etc?

JP couldn't take me disagreeing with him . I had him so mad at the end. For a man of God he sure knew all the curse words pretty well and then banned me so I couldn't respond. But I will say because of him I found my own way out of pain and injury.
I do Have one of Marlon's books and think it has good ideas for self resistance.

John Peterson was always cordial to me. I probably had three telephone conversations with him. He's a talker. He gave me a courtesy copy of his IPR book.
The early days of his forum, when it was called Bronze Bow Publishing, were great. It had a thriving sub-forum for posting your workouts and there was a healthy, encouraging and fun group of regulars supporting one another. It was fun while it lasted.
I hope he's well.

I'm sure You had a different relationship with him than myself. I'm sure You mentioned this before, but how did You get banned from there? Was it John that banned You? I think You know that I would never/have never wished ill will on anyone and I try not to live in the past. I do hope he's in good physical and mental health, just like I wish for everyone. I'm so glad You had that experience with the Bronze Bow forum. What You mentioned is what it's all about. I just knew for myself that JP's ego and macho behavior was holding me back from being a real person and getting true results overall. Not all my experience on that forum was bad but talking and messaging with the real JP was a weird experience for me.

By the way, to answer Stuke about his methods. There is nothing wrong with calisthenics self-resistance, isometrics, and what he called DVRs, and what Bruce calls KSHD. Whether they are measurable in some people's eyes they are all good ways to train for health, muscle, and strength if applied right for that said person. The number one problem with his methods was ego-driven. No matter what kind of training You do Your body needs recovery. I think he never gave people a clear message on how to put together a routine(I know guys here hate that word) that was reasonable. Another thing is You wonder how much of his methods were his. You know the saying, "What's old is new, What's new is old". , I think that's how that saying goes, maybe my new teacher Bruv will correct it for me. I get sometimes there are cases when an old protocol is brought up years later and seems new. But there is plenty of proof which I've seen for myself. One is Bruce's number and letter thing for his self-resistance exercises which he used in PYTP. In his pushup book he wrote word for word out of one of the chapters in Pavel's "Beyond Building". I'm sure there are plenty more.

I remember reading your posts and thinking that you really didn't belong there since you are actually serious about effective exercise.

Thanks, Mr.P. I was gullible the first couple of years because physically I was broken and what I was doing was not working. But You live and learn.

After some experimenting, I finally see some value in JP's 28' Power Belt . Fold the Belt to create 2 loops that function as foot anchors . Standing directing on a single Belt loop creates lateral pressure on the outside of your feet . Meanwhile, you can easily create your own Power Belt.

I was banned there by the famous hall monitor named Joe Justice who the last time I took a look at his FB page, looked very fleshy to me as if he has never worked out. So much for the lingering motivation of "our methods,"

It was a rehash of things other people wrote about in the past, but good enough stuff that it was worth maybe expressing in a different style. What did JP in with many intelligent and experienced people were the wild claims, blatant plagiarism, and his zealot inner circle. It turned into a comedy.

The history section of PYTP was pretty much a copy and paste with a few minor edits of a page from Bruce's self-resistance site. The website page is no longer there. PYTP was basically Bruce's SR site in book form. Joe Justice justified the plagiarism by saying that it was ok because Bruce didn't have a copyright on any of his site.

That's pretty messed up Bruv. After seeing Bruce's page I can see the resemblance. I would say that was the book he probably made the most money on. Bruce gives that information for free. Definitely a difference between their characters. The ab routine he has in that book was in a karate magazine. I could never understand not giving other people credit.

So much for the lingering motivation of "our methods," I think it was him that banned me the first time. I thought that he never looked like he worked out. , I'm sure Magnus wouldn't approve. He just lost weight before or at the time I was there which I would give him credit for. Chasing reps and no intent looked like his method of choice.

Waiting for Bruv to chime in and confirm.
