Thanks for sharing this. My grandfather and other members of my family had diabetes. So far I've had no problems and have none of those symptoms. Is diabetes mostly caused by diet or can it be a genetic thing?

Is diabetes mostly caused by diet or can it be a genetic thing? I'm no expert Michael but will say it's complicated. People with Type 1 diabetes are different creatures and may not accomplish glucose management solely by diet and exercise. Again, I'm not an expert but the next time you gas up your vehicle and go inside to pay the cashier and see Big Bubba with a 44-ounce coke, he may be a diabetic in training. |

People with Type 1 diabetes are different creatures and may not accomplish glucose management solely by diet and exercise. My mother and younger brother both have diabetes. I have other relatives who have had toes and feet amputated because of it. I don't so far, but the one thing we all have in common is kidney problems. I get kidney stones, while they don't. My brother found out he has small blood vessels in his kidneys which cause hypertension and other issues. I am convinced the common problem we share in our genetic kidney issues is at the root of various health issues. Diabetes they believe can cause kidney disease, but I think kidneys may be related to it's development as well. I don't eat much in general so I think my body usually has time to rebuild it's natural supply of insulin in between times when I do gorge on carbs (usually donuts). But occasionally they do hit me like a tranquilizer dart and make me worthless for the rest of the day. Just as some people's bodies can't handle alcohol like others, I think the same is true of carbohydrates. We're like any machine, prisoners of the design we rolled off the assembly line with.

I know that MD's always give the "it's genetic" answer to anything they don't want to bother with or haven't learned, but from my understanding, no, it is not genetic. It may appear to be (like a lot of things in life) genetic due to the observed association/correlation of families eating/sharing a similar diet of food originating from common ground, regions, water supply, etc. Type I develops in children due to the mother's diet deficiency of minerals at crucial times in fetal development with possible influence from genetics that may make them more sensitive to the lack of the essential minerals. Once again, as I've posted so many times, if I took no other supplement, I would take liquid trace minerals. Please note that there is advertising in this V V V vid, but this is the doctor that woke me up to the diet solutions that saved my life, so I have a lot of respect for his expertise, especially with regard to 100% 24/7/365 eliminating all of the "foods" containing the toxic gluten grains. Type II and the other types of diabetes completely reverse and disappear when the diet is fixed. An MD usually won't tell anyone that. In fact, I have a friend who completely reversed typeII and his doctor continued to insist to him that what he did was impossible to do!! So, he fired that doctor. Ha! Sure, MD's lose money when people fix their diet and improve their health, but it's not about our health for most of them anyway - they are a greedy bunch, it seems. I've never failed to improve when I pay attention to Dr Wallach, but be aware that all of the supplements, beyond the minerals, that Dr W recommends may or may not be necessary and best practice might be to determine what else is low before investing in a lot of unnecessary supplements. |

Dining on Dunkin' Donuts daily likely contributes to a diabetic condition of some sort. When I pass the one closest to me, I look into the cars that just came out the drive-thru and all of them are corpulent.
