So since I last posted, i got ultra confused about diet but decided to piece together what I could and decided on a diet pretty much of Meat, vegetables (no white potato), sparingly fruit, nuts and milk (not sure if i should get rid of this one) and I have started to lose weight pretty quickly and it's ok apart from the odd craving for grains here and there.
What is everyone's opinion on cheat days? Yay or nay? I've been reading and some say for success you need that "Reward" and others are saying never to have one.
Thanks guys.

You'll get a lot of varied responses as many diets have worked and it's really an individual thing.
Cutting out milk and cheese is what many feel helps reduce body fat.
'Cheat' days, like one day a week, may help some stay strict during the week. Some take too much advantage and overdo making it offset what was lost during the previous 6 days. It's like being a drug user or alcoholic trying to cut down, but still get 'zooted' on a limited basis.
I would say it would be best to not really diet, but create a livable plan of balanced and 'clean' eating. It should not be torture. Tasteful and healthy choices are all around. See what others here have to say and Google alot of workout peoples diets. Take one meal at a time. Moderation is key. It's ok to have that occasional drink or piece of cake at a party, as long as it's not everyday.
It has to be what you can live with.

Make everyday a cheat day and enjoy one chocy biscuit or a small sticky bun every day.

My experience with "diets" is stick with them to the letter the first 2-3 weeks and see if you get results. Then possibly you can work in a cheat day but it may deter you from REALLY binging and undoing some of your results. Or, just try to eat right 80-90% of the time daily. I've found for me it all boils down to eating a wide variety of foods, avoiding the foods that cause inflammation (different for each individual) and then knowing portion size and timing to stay in a slight calorie deficit. Then realize you can't be perfect 100% of the time.

I'd have to have something else because one a packet of chocolate biscuits get opened, they're being dunked in tea and go down far too easily, before last week it wasn't uncommon for me to consume a full packet like this every other day , I could perhaps work something though xD

Potatoes, white, yellow, red or sweet (orange) are excellent for fat reduction. I cook potatoes by steaming as I've found it to be the faster than boiling. Baking potatoes changes the skin, making it carcinogenic. Cooked potatoes that have been in the fridge become mostly resistant starch. Potatoes are my number 1 food for losing fat/weight while not feeling constantly hungry. No "food avoidance willpower" needed. Love 'em.
Dairy is for gains, not losses. The toxic gluten grains, barley, rye, oats and wheat (and spelt), BROWS, are agribiz chemical contaminated and addictive carbs. No one does well to eat them, IMO, and trying to lost fat/weight will be a miserable battle even if one succeeds.

Just don't start the first one. It's like the first drink to an alcoholic who is trying to stop. Doesn't work.

Me personally, I don't like the word "cheat" as in cheat days. Words matter to me in influencing my mind and behavior. I prefer the term treat days but honestly they shouldn't be necessary if you have your nutrition dialed down, choosing foods that nourish and fuel your body and leave you satisfied. I always go back back to something I read from Jeff Cavaliere that stuck with me, "Food is fuel." Micro-manage a consistent calorie deficit and you'll lose weight, regardless of the foods you eat. That slight calorie deficit will give you more time desiring food and you'll naturally gravitate towards foods that will best nourish your body and make you feel satisfied. Eat slowly and chew your food thoroughly.

For me I have to be careful with cheat days. It’s all too easy to go on a mega binge. Then in the days following I’m left fighting the urge to have more cheat meals.

Initially go with the never cheat approach . You may find it easier to declare no, no way, no thankful . Otherwise, avoid the strict approach but watch out for the "slippery slope" .
Meanwhile, use your Google Machine to search David Goggins in YouTube .

, Gruntbrain I'm confused. I Like some of the stuff the other guys said. What Whiffet said resonated with me when I lost weight. I don't believe someone has to go to extremes if they can control themselves but at that time I could not. Being a person who had a problem with food, stress was one of my triggers. You could have something that triggers You. One thing You could do is keep all treats and junk out of Your house. If You're like I was, You see You'll eat it. If You eat well-balanced meals and healthier versions of food You enjoy You shouldn't need to treat Yourself too much. Once You get going save treats for special occasions. When I know I'll be eating stuff on special occasions I'll fast or eat much lighter earlier in the day. The way You eat to lose weight should be sustainable and enjoyable even if You're in a slight calorie deficit.

It always ends bad as the wine stimulates my appetite and I go on an eating binge. If it was just once a week it might be ok, but the problem is that it is fun! So a couple of days later I’m craving another wine and food night and it is really tough to fight the urge. So avoiding altogether works for me.
