You're in the completely wrong time period, I'm talking 1950's onwards where it was common to have meat and potatoes everynight, things such as... bangers and mash, even pie and mash...'Pie and mash' is great, but gimme some pie, mash and eel liquor and I'm in, love it !!!. Bangers and mash is also something I really like, my Puerto Rican wife makes it at least once a month for me with either sausage or the 'frikadellen' over mashed potatoes I grew up eating 'Kunt' likes Bangers & Mash so much he wrote a song about it ! Haha we're more of a gravy fan (west midlands) the love the liquor in London, I've tried it, it's good.

My two cents based on my personal experience that's fairly recent.
When I was on my mission to drop some weight, begun in 2018, I eventually gravitated towards eating potatoes regularly. I'd boil them and eat them naked and generally cold. I took them for lunch, maybe four and ate them cold and naked. Four golden potatoes of average size are about 440 calories and they will fill you up. It is an acquired taste eating them without any butter or other toppings but it didn't take me long to enjoy eating them this way. I ate a lot of potatoes. There's research (don't know how reliable it is) that says refrigerating potatoes and eating them after they've cooled does something to the starch content and makes them starch resistant and lowers their glycemic index. Honestly, I've never paid much attention to this glycemic index crap because I believe it's all about managing the calories consumed.
There are a ton of videos on YouTube about how people lost a noticeable amount of weight eating potatoes. There was even a documented experience of some Executive Director of the Idaho Potato Commission (or some organization with a similar name) who only ate potatoes for a period of time (maybe 30 days) and lost a decent amount of weight.
Again, it's all about managing the calories eaten. Calories in less than calories out equals weight loss.
Conclusion: I'm bullish on eating potatoes as one of many "tricks" to help someone wanting to lose weight. They'll fill you up quicker than most foods for the least amount of calories consumed.
Again, this is based on my personal, fairly recent and documented experience.

lardy You are in a good spot while seeking exercise that you enjoy. So, so many things you can try and in the trying, you will be exercising. Whatever the exercise(s) is/are, I expect that your early attempts at different things will give great benefit since starting a new exercise requires more thought and effort than after you have done something for a few years. Another suggestion; Try exercises. Don't just look at something and think that it doesn't sound or look interesting, fun or challenging, ie don't prejudge. I've found exercises I love doing once I actually tried them. I've also found ones I hate or cannot do because of the exercise requiring stunt skills. eg, Burpees? Hate! - and cannot do because of injuries. Straight bar barbell deadlift stunts? I'm not going to ever do that to myself again. Kettlebell stunts? No way. So, I avoid any exercise that requires special stunt skills. I hope you enjoy your search and avoid injury.

Hi mate all is going well albeit progression is slower than I thought, I have lost half a stone (7lbs) of weight though since being more thoughtful of my eating. I'm finding workouts hard to get on with because I don't enjoy them :/ , years of laziness is hard to shrug, thanks for asking how it's going mate, hope you are doing well? If I may......just make your workouts fun and don't overdue And don't overdo them either, m8.

Lardy, how is the training going, m8? Hi mate all is going well albeit progression is slower than I thought, I have lost half a stone (7lbs) of weight though since being more thoughtful of my eating. I'm finding workouts hard to get on with because I don't enjoy them :/ , years of laziness is hard to shrug, thanks for asking how it's going mate, hope you are doing well? Things are ok with me , m8. What is it about your workouts that you don't like? Maybe we can think of ways to make them more enjoyable? Are there certain exercises that are difficult for you or sets and reps that you don't like doing? There's lots of ways to exercise so maybe we can figure something out that suits you better?

If he's doing that circuit from earlier I bet it's the pressups. If you're trying to do as many as you can in a minute but can only manage ten before you're on the floor and you're out of breath from doing other stuff before then you never see yourself get any better at them. I would say don't do them as part of a circuit and instead have a day or two a week where you practice just pressups with at least a minute between sets. Another thing, don't worry too much about getting down really low (or getting right back up to the top); just be consistent so you can tell if you're getting better.

Tbh I've been trying a few things but the main thing i'm doing is circuits with bodyweight, I can't get 10 press ups yet i'm just too heavy, I don't know why I don't enjoy it tbh, I just don't enjoy it atm, I'm sure i'll grow into it and enjoy it much more soon though !

If pushups are difficult at the moment you could do another variation such as pushups on your knees or you can do pushups with your hands up on the arms of a chair, table or counter. Anything to make them easier to get plenty of reps.
Or you could use a resistance band to do a chest press.

I tried the inclined push ups but any surface I can find in my house is a bit high and makes them feel a bit too easy (25+ reps), I tried the stairs but the room at the bottom of them isn't really practical. I've been looking around and I have found some equipment, I have some resistance bands, 2 kettlebells (6kg , 8kg), a single dumbbell (can load upto 17kg on it), a skipping rope (can't skip for sh*t), so I might try and incorporate some of this stuff into my workouts.

Also I find I get winded and start sweating ridiculously way too easy but I don't know why my cardio is so bad I walk anything from 2-7 miles a day and at a fast pace.

I don't know what your routine looks like but 25+ reps can be incorporated into a workout. Sets don't have to be low reps. There's nothing wrong with 25, 30 or even more reps per set. 1 or 2 sets of 25+ pushups 5-6 days per week could be a great exercise for you. It will improve your fitness. As you don't have lots of weights to use maybe you should do high rep sets for all your exercises? It will be easier to add a rep to a set every now and again rather than doing exercises you can only do a handful of reps. Don't burn yourself out though. If you are doing high reps you need to be doing very few sets or even just a single sets of each exercise. Coincidentally I was chatting to Moxohol in a message over the weekend and mentioned to him that I was just about to start a routine with reps in the 20-30 rep range for most exercises.
